Stashy reading

Instead of trashy reading!

I got my copy of Embroidered Truths today at Barnes and Noble! and after returning DS's trombone (with thanks and regrets), I wandered into a used book store and emerged with Erica Wilson's NeedlePlay in library cover and Counted Cross Stitch Patchwork Designs by Pat Farrell.

And at the library the new Earlene Fowler was in!

Now aside from my copy of "Japanese Wonder Shell", can I now officially say that I am jealous of your copy of "Embroidered Truths"? I will commence to start hounding my local Barnes & Noble and Borders for it. Methinks I will be in trouble with Mary Monica's new turn and "Half-Blood Prince" coming.

Oh! I am jealous! I once had the real shell - and lost it to dire damage. I just have to keep my eyes open for a copy of the chart and a chance to find another one of the real thing. You can buy the book any day now!

Half Blood Prince arrives while DS is away at hockey camp for 2 weeks. So, DH will read it in a frenzy over 2-4 days with very little sleep. I'll read it instead of doing house work after he's done. Then DS can take the rest of the summer to read it!

Now you've done it! Why did I never THINK to go to our local used bookstore for needleppoint books? On an ambitious day, the closest used bookstore is a 30 minute walk from here. It just so happens, today is a good day. LOL Gawd, looks like I'm going to have to spend tomorrow's paycheque today! :)))

Yippee!! I just found my copy of "Embroidered Truths" and am now dying to see what Goddy will be up to now... As for "Half-Blood Prince", I will probably finish within the first day or two. That is assuming that I pick it up on the first day. I had picked up "Order of the Phoenix" at a midnite release party with a reservation. I probably had a number of chapters already read within the wee hours of the nite. Fending DBF from the book until I am done is another matter entirely.

If you have a list of what you want, this guy had a ton of needlepoint - mostly 70's vintage, some more Erica Wilson.

I've been looking more closely at the Peg Farrell book - it is stunning in its detail.

I am saving Embroidered Truths for the night DH and DS take off to Lake Placid to drop DS at two weeks of hockey camp. I can read all night if I want!

Oh, Cheryl -

You're in for a couple of treats.

There were so many new books by favortie authors coming out, I've reserved them at the library and now they're all coming in at once! It's an embarassment of riches.

First was the Earlene Fowler, then "Embroidered Truths." Now I'm on the new Jeffrey Deaver (Lincoln Rhyme) mystery, "The Twelfth Card," (which, BTW, is a terrific read!) and yesterday I picked up the brand-spankin'-new Kathy Reichs mystery and Adriana Tragliani novel! And I'm racing to get through them all so that soon after Potter arrives I can attack that. (I'll give DD first dibs...she's much faster than I am).

Making some tough choices between reading and stitching, and have a quilt project that I *should* be spending more time on (self-imposed August deadline)...good things days are LONGER in the summertime, LOL!

I picked up my copy midday and had finished the book by midnite that same night. As typical for Mary Monica, it was a nice easy read. You should be able to finish it fairly quickly. Hope you enjoy...

A new Tempe! Hurrah! I love that series!

I'll go a looking for her!

I just nabbed a fabulous read - Stealing with Style (Emyl Jenkins) - even a stitchy tie, one of the items she buys at auction is an antique sampler. The main character is an appraiser in Virginia. It's a first novel with wonderful characters.

I'm trying to do so much! or is that TOO MUCH!

Can someone explain to me why, when I walk into Barnes and Noble with the sole purpose of getting Embroidered Truths, I walk out with three additional books? I think it has something to do with having to walk by the discounted hardbacks to get to the checkout counter. {ahem}

It always seems to happen....

Thanks...I'll check that out. (Literally - if the library has it!)

Ask them to get it! Goes down as one of the tops this year!

It is kin to the sticky pot disease. There is a directly proportional force of attraction between the item, it's proximity to the cash register and the buyer!

I don't know exactly what it is I want, but I'll know it when I see it.....hope that makes sense. I went to the local used books store and she had a whole section on needlecrafts of all kinds, and like your supplier, they were mostly mid 70s, with lots of crochet and knitting in with them. I'll have to go back now and take a peek at the Peg Farrell book if she has it. :)

I hear you there! I am more and more blown away by the Farrell book. Some of the other stuff just makes me laugh or cringe!

And if you are good and don't go to the store itself, they'll send you emails about new, bargain, bestselling, etc books and get you to buy books that way. If you read they'll find you.

I decided I was a BarnesandNobleholic the other day when I left the store with YABOB (Yet Another Bag Of Books) and realized I hadn't yet taken the last one out of the car.

At least the new books weren't reading books -- two wonderful gardening books and a travel book on Cancun I had ordered...

Which gardening books did you get! BTW, the offer of plants is still open!
