Stitch Magazine

Anyone is the US been able to find the last 3 issues? The last one I bought was the Christmas one. I love this magazine almost enough to pay the exorbitant price for a subscription. LOL

Which "Stitch Magazine" are you refering to, Donna?

I''ve had some problems with a couple different ones, especially the last 2 months.

It's the UK mag - Stitch - put out by the embroider's guild.

I've seen it (and bought it) in the local Barnes and Nobles (NH).

Well, that's good news that someone is still getting it here in the US. Will continue searching for it and trying to get in touch with the people at my B & N who handle the periodicals.

I gave up trying to find it and just subscribed. To Workbox, too, this year. They're both quite inspiring. Marjorie near Chicago

You had to tell me there was another great magazine out there! Workbox looks very interesting.

Though, I have to admit I am some what under-whelmed by "Inspirations". Ok - it was only one issue I bought and I just might give it another go, but it really didn't inspire me at all.

I can't understand this. There's is something in every issue (and usually more than one) that is delicious. The artistry that goes into the designs is stunning. Perhaps the subject matter doesn't appeal to you? Although they've had or neu, goldwork, lots of stumpwork, tons of surface embroidery, shadow embroidery, wool embroidery, even some lace (of which I have their kit), embroidery on a knitted sweater. The magazine itself is of the highest quality.

I've never seen any cross stitching. Nor other counted work (drawn fabric or drawn thread). This is lacking. I'm hoping they bite that bullet one of these days. Embroidery & Cross Stitch as well. That's a mag that includes cross stitching. Lots of different stuff in there.

But of course, if the subject matter isn't to your taste, then you wouldn't like the magazine. However, if you are *into* surface embroidery, then it's a collector's magazine.

I normally love surface work, but none of the projects grabbed me enough to say stop everything, I want to do/try THIS ONE. It was all rather "pastel" and while parts appealed, none of the "wholes" did. NOW - I will keep it because the stitch directions are so clear.

I'd try another issue if the cover photo grabs me, but I'd rather borrow an issue than buy it.

There are "Stitch", "Classic Stitches" and "New Stitches". I'm not near my magazine stash, but I think that "Stitch" is the publication of the "Royal Guild of Embroiderers" in the UK.
