Stitching plans for the long weekend

I'm looking for my little spring hoop to start "Ladybugs and Bumblebees" and after I see a little progress on that I'm going back to the baby dragons so I can get them DONE....

Otherwise, I'm going to garden

I've got several dozen impatiens to put in as well as some perennials. By the time I'm done with that and the other gardening chores I"ll probably pick up the latest Alexander McCall-Smith. I'll try to do a block on "Fractal 53" but I'll probably be doing a lot of napping too.

We're in reverse. I have a couple of things ready to be stitched on at any moment but can't spare the time. My hope is to finish the canvas piece on the floor stand tonight/tomorrow night.

For us it's garden first - you'd be proud -or scolding. As our HOA is after us to take down the dead maple, but we've compromised. We're chopping it down this weekend, and then can leave the stump/mulch ring until we replace it in the fall (they've agreed that planting a decent size tree right now in the heat season would be bad). Then, well, after mowing our lawn, which no lie, grew about 6" in the past 4 days due to rain - we're recutting the edges on the front/side beds. While I weed the incredible mess. Then pulling out 2-3 rhodies from the big bed, and replacing with 3 Mountain Laurel "Mt. Olympus" . Bed by LR, pulling the 2 boxwoods and then planting

5 Mountain Laurel "Sarah" . The rest of that bed had been pulled already. Then....around the raised deck in we have to cut out the sod, and are re-planting the 2 rhodies on 1 side, and the 2 boxwoods on the other (behind the Serviceberry tree). The serviceberry has come back well from the snow storm, though it's a bit bent so I think we're going to have to find some way to stake this many stalked tree for a while to help it. We need something evergreen to cover the deck opening behind it, so....replanting the low maintenance boxwoods. And then...we have to pull the dead small Sango Kaku maple, and cut down/pull the dead cryptomereia - but those will wait til next weekend. And phase 1 of eradicating all the weeds that came back in the patio. Really horrible. DH says I have to work on the beds, but I can spare at least 45 min to spray!

Oh, and finally the builder is coming to check the leak in the foundation, and the stained LR ceiling (they had already fixed the exterior roof, just not addressed the interior, or any remaining leak). We'll see - but that means I must actually clean the house - at a minimum - some serious vacuuming and clearing up before he comes on Tuesday. Ugh.

So, I'm heading down to make coffee - breakfast of champions - and then we're off to buy needed mulch/planting soil/amendment (after I had finally used all mine). And edging for the beds - the inexpensive plastic stuff to hold the edges - stonework later. Then to the farmers market to meet our favorite poultry/eggs/pork guy (who doesn't come to our local one this year so we have to go 10 mi to Leesburg - and others, of course). Then.....in the garden.
