Stitching web sites -- bad or ugly

The post claiming to show us how to earn MILLIOANS of dollars in one week was just what I needed to start this discussion.

I'm fully aware that most of the world doesn't speak English and that we all make misteaks at the keybored; however, sites that are aimed at English speaking visitors should have good grammar and spelling. An occassionalll misspellled wurd is allowed.

Sites should be browser neutral; even though Micro$oft seems to have conquered the world, some of us are still resisting. Unless I really want a product or have to see a site, I quickly surf somewhere else if a site or page doesn't work in Mozilla.

I love 'search my site' options BUT if after doing a search, a million and four results are presented, there has to be a user friendly way to limit those results.

Could you do us a favor? When you find a site that needs help, send them to IntlProofingConsortium. One of our sidelines is polishing up the writing of ESL people. Especially on websites.

Ugly or jarring colours; Neon colours especially that hurt the eyes; websites where the page is divided into (arrgh - can't remember the right word) cells(?) that each have their own scroll bars, especially when this divides the page into three or more sections; Splash pages that take ages to load, but have no content.

I'll respond in the next thread about what I like.

I would need for your website to be compatible with my web browser before I could do that. Right now, the text overruns the right side border and it's very annoying.

It is very unfortunate but many websites are created by people who are more interested in displaying their artistic and technical skills than they are in displaying what it is that the website is supposed to be displaying. Bruce

If I have to scroll sideways to see the text, it doesn't matter what the text says.

If the text doesn't wrap when I enlarge the letters, the original font size had better be REALLY BIG.

If I can't open the links on a search-result page in tabs, the website is never gonna get a dime out of me because I can't look the products over and choose one. (Note: disabling right-click doesn't pose even a slight inconvenience to people who steal graphics: if you can see it, you can copy it.)
