Variegated hunt...

I have just been asked to do a wedding sampler for my brother-in-law and their wedding colours are DMC 308 & 3838 (very yellow and blue!) I would like to find a variegated thread in these colours. Does anyone know of one?

My DMC color sample folder does not list a number 308. It does show 7 variegated blues and 1 variegated light yellow. Not knowing exactly what #308 looks like, it's a bit hard. However, I was thinking you might be able to blend the two variegates and perhaps achieve what you are looking for..... just a suggestion or, were you looking for two different variegates, one in blues and one in yellows????

Gosh, now this doesn't seem to have helped at all....

Man Strands has a few that look right ( to me) but you have to be anewsletter subscriber to see them.http://www.sanmanoriginals.com/

Thanks for all of the links. There were a couple I hadn't been to yet. I only gave the DMC equivalents as a reference for the colours I am looking for. I enjoy trying new threads and opportunities like this are great for 'playing'. My last project I used blending filaments, silk floss and Wisper and it was sooooo much more iteresting that way.

I haven't looked at colors, but my 2 cents worth is that both Gloriana Silks and Threadgatherer silks are a joy to work with. I like them much better than the Caron silks.

are wonderful threads and perhaps the one called "sour apple" will be what you want. The site has lots of info and in particular, they say that sour apple is a close match to DMC 727 and 3846. I actually have a hank of it and I thought it looked like 3078 and 597-598. See what you think! Good Luck, Rachel in Scottsdale.

Oooh, very pretty, but the blue is too green. I need it to be more periwinkly (I don't think that's a word but I don't care!).

Does anyone out there have "marshmallow eggs" or "icing on the cake" or know what they equate to for DMC??? Esp. is marshmallow eggs that purple or is there any blue in it?

Sorry I do not have either one of these. The pictures look to be red-purple rather than periwinkle however. You did check out the DMC-Six Strands conversion chart this site has?

The bride has specified 'lavender blue' or periwinkle a couple of times to me. I would be OK going with something blue, but not if there's any green in it...

Then go for it - do you have shop near by that carries SSS? It's a good excuse for stash fondling!

Addie - Take a look at Carrie's Threads, specifically Morning Glory or Romance (which does have some pink in it, but still make work well).

These are cotton threads (DMC base), but I find them silkier to the touch than DMC.

You could email Carrie and ask her to compare the threads to the DMC equivalents and have a better idea if they work.

Good luck in your quest. I think this is an essential part of the stitching process!

Turns out I get to go for SEX tomorrow!!! I don't have an LNS nearby, but we are off to Calgary so I get to have fun and - bonus for me - DH stitiches too and appreciates LNSs. I don't think anyone around here carries SSS, but I will be asking...

I am not sure how much rctn is scanned for key words, but in the past we have tried to use the abbreviation S.E.X., with the periods.
