Victorian Charm

I went a little stash acquisition mad last month for my birthday and just got to start one of the kits I bought called Victorian Charm (I also bought Night on the River by Elsa Williams). I'm also working on a long haired yorkie chart using this awesome 28 count fabric that one of my fellow CCS group members (Counted Cross Stitch on Yahoo) sent me as a surprise for my birthday. I'm using silks for this one but goodness what a pain! Theres 40 separate colors and it changes almost every darn stitch. I think that by the time its done my eyes will have shriveled up to the size of raisins lol.

Just a few thoughts on working with a lot of colors:

When working a pattern with a lot of colors (my favorites), I work one strand at a time. By this I mean I cut about 15" floss of color A, do all stitches in the area for that color or finish the strand, whichever comes first, then do another color. I grid my material, and work from upper left to lower right, one grid square (10 stiches by 10 stitches) at a time. I also make a working copy, and mark out (with pencil, in case of mistakes) what I have already stitched.
