What are you reading - time for another round

I'm currently reading Lorna Barrett,'s latest bookstore cozy mystery, "Bookplate Special.' Had just finished the latest Cape Light Kincade/Spencer and Jennifer Chinaverini's "A Quilter's Holiday." I seem to be in a lighter reading mood. I had tried to start Robert Wilson's, " The Hidden Assasins" but somehow couldn't muster the concentration.

Hmm, I'll look for that book store series. I recently tired a shopping series (purses and poison or something similar) - dropped it 5 pages in. If I want to slap a main character upside the head that quickly, it just isn't worth the read.

The bookstore series is set in NH. That shopping series sounds like one I tried by the author of a "dead end job" series. Really bad!!!

I just finished "Blackwork" and really enjoyed it. One of her best, I think. And I'm anxious to see where the next one goes.

I read "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night" and really, really liked it. It's a quick and quirky read.

I'm reading one of the Morland Dynasty novels. I've been away from them for a long time, and enjoying the story and delightful descriptions. This one is set in the French Revolution.

Just ordered "The Lace Reader" from the library, but it'll be another couple of days before I'm up to collecting it. Still under the weather.

I picked up Sense and Sensiblity and Sea Monsters at the library today, and have Queen Victoria Demon Hunter in the pile too. I started A S Byatt's The Children's Book, but will never ever finish it in the library's two week loan, so need to buy it, as it is a thick read with lots of characters, and I want to savour it. The book group at the store has loved Benny and Shrimp, and The Toss of a Lemon. We are doing Push (aka Precious) this month, and then reading The Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.

I am also reading Barbara Erenreich's Bright Sided, about what she sees as the damage done in American society by the constant emphasis on thinking positively. Interesting--not at the end yet, so the argument isn't entirely tied together yet.

I have a stack in the book bag, and hope this thread will last for a few days so I can comment on some of them. I have had a vicious cold or something for about 10 days so have only been capable of sleeping and/or watching mindless TV outside of working hours

In English i am reading Rashi`s Daughters [book 3 :Rachel]. by Maggie Anton, A Plume Book , 2009. i ordered it after i read/swallowed the first and second books.

In Hebrew i started a book by Yoram Kaniuk "The Last Jew".

and in Dutch i read "Portugusade " Herinmeringen aan het Amsterdam van de Portugese Joden, By Nol Bueno de Mesquita. Eburn 1988 [Short stories about the Portugeses Jews of Amsterdam] mirjam

I do envy you, finding Monica Ferris books here in Oz is so difficult

- haven't read any since the one after Crewel Yule (my memory isn't what it once was!). When I come across the water next year I will be buying all I can get!!!

But I am wondering off topic again, I am currently reading A Woman In Charge, The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton by Carl Bernstien. If you are in any way fasinated by this woman (good or bad) I recommend this book. Bernstien writes about the good, the bad and the ulgy in her life. Coming from the same part of the country in the same time I have found this a book well worth reading!

(In case you don't know about me, grew up just outside Elgin Illinois and came to Australia in 1972 for 2 years (someday I'll have to talk to my husband about that!).

Well, I nabbed the series at the library yesterday. The librarian on duty said she really liked it.

Funny, my mom has a friend that she met when my Dad worked in Saudi Arabia. Both couples went back to the State and then this other couple went to Japan for a while and have since ended up in Australia. My Mom is thinking hard about going over to visit her now.

I'm rereading all the Monica Ferris books because I just finished Blackwork, makes me wish I had a Crewel World in my town lol. I also reread Lorna Barretts books because her next one should be in Kindle format soon, and Laura Child's series as well- again because she's coming out with a new Cackleberry Club and Tea Shop mystery soon. Gosh all this rereading I can't wait to get a new book LOL

Do you really want it? Most of the things on it are suggestions from here! Aside from the young-adult ones I've cataloged that look interesting....

I have just finished reading Death Loves a Messy Desk by Mary Jane Maffini, and am now reading Homicide in Hardcover by Kate Carlisle. Thai Die in paperback is winding its way to me as we speak, and I'm really looking forward to it!
