What I've been upto - long and mostly OFF TOPIC

Well, it all started the last Thursday of March. It was Senior Night at Londonderry Hockey and DS was in net for 90% game. Other goalie went in, got hurt and was done for the season with a possible head injury. Well, was bad as the game was, DS had done a fair job and all four of us were pretty jazzed.

Meanwhile a wind storm was blowing through and around midnight, the power went out. Around 1 AM, DD crawled in - she was scared from all the noise. Don't blame her either.

So - Friday morning, still no power and DH goes off to work. And calls home to tell me, no work either. And there is no phone service either to the house - both FairPoint and Comcast are down too.

So, I stitch and knit and read and keep the kids out the fridge. DS has hockey practice and tells us "he's going to take a long HOT shower". Saturday starts about the same way, but DD has a hockey game mid-afternoon.(they lost) And the final HS hockey game of the season is going that night. DS had an awesome last game - stopping 30 of 33 shots and Lancers close it out looking like the team they were at the Holiday Tourney.

Come home and there is a note from out tenant, please call.

Meanwhile, still no power and we go find a hotel room at 10 PM because, we're all cold and want showers.

Sunday AM - finally talk to tenant - the backup/fail safer on the condo septic failed and there is sewage in the lowest level. OH CRAP

Well - finally got power back mid day Sunday. Went over to inspect condo and get the insurance dance started. Turns out, what we had contracted our insurance agent for, wasn't what we had been paying for for some still undetermined length of time. We had bought a gap policy for cover damages to the until for up to where the insurance carried by the condo association kicks in. Well, at some point and most likely when the local office closed, it got changed to a personal property policy and would cover damages to the appliances at the condo - maybe. (more later)

Well, at least Service Master was quick and the start of the process of gutting and repairing the basement is underway. I'll get Home Depot in to measure the carpet and make that appt. I should have the names of several "handy men" later today to replace the insulation and the paneling and we just might spring for new baseboard heaters too

I'll be spending the next week getting the rest of this squared away.

Meanwhile, I hope to find the missing skein of DMC and finish the last 20 stitches of a little free chart of a poppy. I'm going to make it into a pincushion when I find it. And maybe I'll be settled enough to bead and finish my cardinal up. And I have to finish a scarf for one of DD's friends before hockey season thankfully ends.

Later gang - I'll be reading but most likely not posting much

Oh - and I have been reading again - I don't know why this book called to me so - Moon Called by Patricia Briggs at BJ's last week, but despite my self imposed ban on paranormal stuff, I'm really enjoying this series (got the rest at the library). I don't know that I call it a romance, a mystery or what, but the characters are well rounded out and the plots are well constructed. And the background stuff is well researched - multiple different folklores intersect and work.

Later gang! Cheryl

Oh crap indeed ! You need to be a lawyer to understand exactly what is covered in those circumstances. I found I wasn't in Shad Bay and then three years ago when my daughters place flooded, she didn't think she was but did get covered.

Both of us had the same type of flooding, frozen ground, heavy rain and nowhere for the water to go but in through a minute crack in the basement wall.

Sorry to hear of your woes, can truly sympathise, hope it works out well. Good Luck.

Oh Dear. You have my deepest sympathies. As you know I've been there and done that when we had the hurricanes here, but I didn't have the kids to worry about and that makes it a little easier.

Stay warm, stay dry and be thankful that at least you have your needlework and reading to keep you occupied.

Big hugs are coming your way and wishes that this will be over very soon.

Thanks Nancy - it appears the folks in the condo are getting together to deal with disposing of the soiled property.
