ON and OFF Topic - stuff and more stuff

First - life is changing in so many positive ways of late.

DD has committed to a new hockey team and is happy as a clam about it. Lots of issues with her old league and the new home away from home is 8 minutes from the house. The savings in gas and time are amazing. And she loves her new coach and she knows many of the girls already.

And her lacrosse season has started and she's happy and ready for that.

DS has heard in the affirmative from three of his four colleges. Of course, he hasn't heard from his first choice, but his GPA and SATs are above their averages, so, he should get in.

And in 10 days, he and DH are headed to Rochester NY to the USA Hockey Midget Major Tier II Nationals.

Repairs to our rental property are going well. It will be another two weeks, but that

So - despite other concerns, life is good...

I've read a few good books of late.

"Bone Crossed" (a Mercy Thompson book - by Patricia Briggs) - another really good book in the series. I also read her "Cry Wolf" which I didn't like as much. "Dragon Keeper" (Robin Hobb) I don't think Hobb could write a bad book.

"The Betrayal of the Blood Lily" (Lauren Willig) - a new favorite series. Love her writing, love the plots with in plots...

Current read is "The Adamantine Palace" (Stephen Deas) A first novel and so far so good

I have been plugging away on those baby dragons, doing some beading and other crafty things. One thing I really want to do is find one area in the house, other than the basement (unfinished) to store 90% of my needlework supplies, my beading stuff, my fabric stash and other assorted craft stuff.

Mind you, if DS was really out of the house, I'd have his room. Which isn't happening for a few years.

So - off to a hockey banquet in a few hours....I should go empty the dishwasher and do another load of laundry, but maybe I'll go stitch until it's time to wake every one up...

I'm delighted that your life is going so well.

I also want to thank everyone for telling me about good books. So far I've discovered authors I probably would never have known about if I didn't read about them here.

Good to hear !

That should make a big difference for you, doing the same drive over and over is terrible.

Cheryl - are you ready for him to leave home ??? He'll meet girls, perhaps bend his elbow a bit ???? RDH

So glad to hear it!

Isn't it wonderful to not only HAVE periods like this, but to realize and appreciate it as it's happening. Treasure the moment and the feeling.

Leave - only if he stays in state. Not ready for much else.

Bending the elbow - not worried about - he's level headed. As for girls - he's focused on bringing up his grades to transfer to a different school

My poor DD and her DH are paying for DGS to go out of state. Penn State up at Erie; it has the specialty he is looking for.. 40 grand a year I understand. They both make good money at their careers. There are two girls following close behind.

Marci says that all their child credits are lost. the college credits are lost etc. They make a tad under 250 grand.....which is within the range Obama, the Liar, said wouldn't be hurt.

Spit, hate, spew etc.

NH , ME etc are very small states. You KNOW he will come home on occasional weekends so Mom can do the laundry, and give him food.

I did that eons back when I had a bed-sit in London.

One is in Maine, the other three are all NH schools. What he wants is to get a high enough GPA to transfer to URI... Every place is between 2-3 hours away...

WHAT?!?!?! You mean he didn't apply to UND???? We have *the* greatest hockey facility in the country (including pro teams), hands down!

Not to mention NN being only 70 miles away and visits with me and ....

He did consider it briefly (I'd have loved it) but he's working at pulling his GPA up enough to get into one of the schools with a sports marketing program.
