Waiting, I'm waiting. . .

I will look for it, have to say I am very fond of many Chilean wines as they generally have that fruity taste that I like. Might be plebeian, I don't know, just know I like it lol

As a ps - a friend called in need of a ride to the stupidmarket so while I was hanging around there killing time I suddenly thought to check the wine section and I found the wine. The girl on duty had not tried it herself but said that it 'sells well' - so I picked up a bottle. Will sample tomorrow night. Thanks.

Ooh yes - we had Carmenere from Chile at a wine-tasting birthday party and I really liked it. I'm always fond of Cabernet Sauvignon and this seemed to be a similar type of wine. I'd heard the story of "lost grape variety" as well.

I have fired up the bbq and have had my first sip of the Carmenere, and yes I agree - it has the fruity taste I like, with a hint of almost smokiness. Very nice recommend Sue.

Nope. This was the debut release, though the wine from the actual Sugarloaf Mountain Winery may be. They had the shop open thru the party, and sold the Sugarloaf as well as the Revolution "Independence" . I will say, the wine is possibly the best rose' I've ever had, and carried with the pairings really well. The chef & I had worked up a menu, crab cakes (of course), then a grilled salmon satay (some spiciness) with a dill-crème fraiche sauce, then a poblano chicken in phyllo cups with avocado aioli, and finally a thin sliced roast sirloin that had marinated in the wine, on toast points with a portobello mushroom in balsamic glaze. For the sweet, we had a panna cotta with fresh berries - that as you got to the bottom - put a little wine into it, swirl and "shoot it" - yummmy. So, point being it did well with a good range - though I wouldn't put it with a lamb, duck, or heavy beef dish.

The party went really well, the vineyard owners said it was the best function they'd had, and I think I'll get some business from it. Also, the winemaker, Carl, did a barrel tasting of his Cabernet Sauvignon, which he's hoping to start bottling in August, for a release event in October. But I did think of Sheena, and the red wine drinkers when doing the barrel tasting. If it's anywhere near as good comparatively as the rose' it's something to look for. I did tags for the bottles, with a little blurb on wone side, and a label on the other. Got a quote from Wine Spectator - "Rose [is] thw white wine for red wine drinkers" .

Right now they're having issues with the license for the distribution, but once that gets going.... He's an interesting guy - was a chemical engineer, then went back to scchool and got an MS in Oenology. Great guy - his wife is just lovely as well.

But, when you come visit I'll definitely get you some of this wine. I was happy that it's a great summer wine.. I think some pals and us are going to buy a case. They gave me a couple of bottles - autographed of course. It was a fun thing.

Rare times, a very hot day at a bbq, I will drink a long rose with soda and masses of ice, but to me, nothing has the deeps that red has. However, I am happy to see all these smaller, north American wineries starting up, there are all sorts of grapes perfectly well able to grow in our climate and they make interesting wines, different maybe, but interesting. France really did not want north America to find that out lololol

No - I recommended a wine Trio, from Argentina. Sue recommended Carmenere from Chile, based on liking the fruity taste in a wine. There!!!

I totally understand. I'm very much a red wine drinker myself, with some liking for certain whites depending on the pairing. The 2 years in France opened my eyes quite a lot. Since I lived near Cahors, home of what the Romans referred to as "blood wine" since it is so deep, but not like a burgunday, I gained that addiction. But, I was pleasantly surprised that this Rose was like a slightly brighter, red - maybe like a Petit Syrah or a Pinot - even though made with Cabernet Franc & some Cabernet Sauvignon. Definitely better than the fill it with soda and make s wine spritzer. But good with the slight chill on.

The winemaker did give a speech about these vineyards bringing up the quality of wines made in this region, etc. It's all good.....
