[ AD ] pottery videos for rent, online, delivered by mail

I hope you'll forgive a brief plug: I manage the video library at Technical Video Rental. We're now in our third year of renting out instructional and craft videos online, and delivering them via first class mail to your door. We carry videos on ceramics and lots of other arts and crafts.

I notice they're trying to rent out my beginning videos there for about $24.00. I don't get any royalties from their rentals. I suppose if I were a major motion picture company with a legal department I would probably make a point of it... But you can buy them at my site for $30.00. Brad Sondahl

By all means, if folks want to have permanent copies, they should buy them! Brad's videos are decently priced, so it likely makes sense for some folks to purchase from him. We always plug our vendors, and when we get inquiries from folks who want to buy, rather than rent, we refer them to the authors.

Regarding the "legal department" comment: Technical Video Rental operates just like every other video store in the country: we buy our videos, and then rent them out, with no further payments. US Copyright law does required royalty payment for public performances (in front of groups of people), but does not require royalty payments for renting videos to individuals. We make it clear in our FAQ that videos rented from us may not be displayed in public gatherings with out negotiating royalties with the video authors.

Then I apologize for the implication. I always assumed movies got some sort of payment for each rental... Brad
