Geil Glaze Kiln Info

What are your feelings about Geil glaze kilns, specifically a front-loading fiber-lined model. There website looks good, but I wanted to hear what people that have fired them have to say.

Thanks!

i never had nor fired one, but the concept of a download kiln works great. i built one outside my workshop.

although i know they are professional, i wonder how they retain the fiber? i refurbished a kiln with fiber & eventually (after maybe 30 firings) the fiber started to dust my pieces with loose material.

I had a Geil that I bought in the 70's and gave it away three years ago when I moved it. It was still working great! Paul Geil builds a very good kiln and it is also certified, making it easier to get by local authorities. The fiber can be sprayed with ITC 100 which I think is probably a good idea. I did that with my kiln a few years ago. Paul might even be able to do that for you when he builds it.
