3-rail Quilt Frame

Hi everyone. I am a hand quilter and have been looking at 3-rail hand quilting frames. I would like to get one and have been looking at Grace frame. Does anyone have a Grace 3-rail frame? If so, please tell me what you think about it. I thought that the Grace Z44 would be great! Thanks!

Hi Nick! I can't help you with your question, but it seems to me that I haven't seen your name before. Are you new here? If so, welcome! You'll need to tell us a bit about yourself, like what kinds of quilts you like to make, what sorts of QIs you might have, and what kind of chocolate you prefer. Do you have a web site where we can see your hand-quilted quilts?

Hi Sandy! Yes, I am new here. I just thought it would be nice to chat with other quilters once in a while. I have quilted for about 3 years now and love it! I like to make all sorts of quilts and like most fabric (except Thimbleberries!). I don't have as much time to quilt as I would like but, you know how it goes. I always enjoy a challenge and love to learn new skills. I just bought Electric Quilt 5 and love it! I can't wait to start making my own designs. I learned how to hand quilt about 5 months ago and have been working at it ever since. I really enjoy it and think it is a good stress reliever! I have some Q-Snap frames and a wooden hoop but want to invest in a 3-rail. I am friends with a lady who has hand quilted for over

40 years. She told me her thoughts but suggested I get some more. I have really been looking into the Grace Z44 Pro. I just wanted to here from someone who has one to see what it's like. By the way, my favorite chocolate is Chocolate cake with chocolate icing! Yummm!

Thank you for welcoming into your group,

Nick

Nick, welcome! Like Sandy, I really don't have any advice for you regarding a 3-rail frame - I generally use an oval hoop, and the floor frame I do have is from the 1950s or so! I'm sure someone will have some thoughts for you, though.

You'll enjoy EQ5. I promise myself I'm going to become more proficient on it someday!

Come back often - this is a great group, and there's always room for one more.

Welcome, Nick! I've done a teeny amount of hand-quilting, but I use a hoop. So, I can't help in your info search, but I wanted to say hello. My youngest daughter thinks any frame with the name Grace must be good, and she said if I bought the Little Gracie machine quiltng frame, she would quilt all my quilts for me. Of course, she'd have to stand on a chair, as she is only 5.

Welcome!! Can't help you with the Grace, but I do have a Hinterberg Easy build that I love and would recommend if you have nayone handy in your life that can help you with it. Enjoy!!

Thank you Jan for your input.

I prefer using a hoop to a large frame because I like to be able to turn my work when the pattern changes direction. I can do that easily with a hoop. In a large frame, I have to be able to stitch in many directions unless all of my quilting is in long straight lines.

Hi Nick,

I myself am a machine quilter, but I have two friends who each have the Grace Z44, and they both love them. One of them is a very prolific hand quilter, and her frame enjoys a permanent setup in her living room. The other uses hers pretty much just for basting, and she really likes it for that. (Too old to crawl around on the floor anymore!).

And I have to agree with you there, Julia. I have a nice hoop that sits on a little stand in my lap, and I have another hoop on a floor stand. Love them! :)
