new Bernina

I just read on another site that the new 830 is reportedly listed at $11,999. This is supposedly from someone who had been to Bernina University. Has anyone talked to a dealer yet? The quilting frame (again reportedly) is being made by Grace Frames and the table by Horn. (I thought that looked like a Horn table in the vidcast.)

I was curious what features this thing has that would make it cost so much, and I see that Bernina is reusing the number -- looks like an 830 was also released in the 1970s, and you can pick them up used for around $25. Bet that will cause some confusion! LOL

("Honey, I really want a Bernina 830 for my birthday"... ooops!)

I'll bet that the 30-year-old 830 is a more solid machine overall, too. I absolutely LOVE mine. I have several machines but when I want one that will stand up to a beating, I choose the 830 every time.

Yeah....it's called "The 8 Series". There have been Activas and Artistas but now The 8 Series. I thought at first it was the Cre8 series...or the Create 8 series. But that does't appear to be the case. I wonder what the name/series means? I suppose a new number would cost another $500....they are being green by recycling?
