I set up a webpage with links to our quilting photos --

I intended for this to be a collection of personal webpages so we could share our efforts.
I've had a request to put two commercial websites in the list. My first inclination is to refuse. Advertising is not allowed in this group, so it would seem a natural extension to say that advertising would not be acceptable on the webpage.
My vote would be, no listings of retail sites. But wasn't there a desire some time back for a list of those among us who do longarm quilting? Did we ever get a list together? We might be able to do that. But I wouldn't want to put retail sites. That may seem like a double standard, and if it does, than I say let's not even put that list up either. If we want one of our own member to do longarm for us, we can just holler out on the group to find the one nearest us, right?
There are plenty of commercial sites out there. I would vote no. However, it would be nice to have the ladies out there on our list that do longarm have a place. I am always at a loss on where to look for longarm quilters I trust.
Last I heard, Danielle was putting together a website for the longarmers on the group that wanted to participate, but I haven't seen an update on that project. My guess is with 2 little ones... one a newborn..... she just may have her hands really full. Maybe she'll come up for air soon and give us an update.
Thanks for setting the page up Kay. Here is my link if you are still adding:

My opinion on webpages is that if the page is predominantly quilts from a regular here I would like to see them. There is a lot of self promotion around here in subtle (and not so subtle) ways. Unless a page is just a straight away hard sell like page I'd like to see it. I think there is a lot more giving/swapping than outright sales anyway when you really think about it.
that said can you add my personal website as well as the photo's site? the patterns I give are all free so it's not a commercial site
or maybe add a list of people who have a website for sharing patterns?
then I keep on thinking and wonder.. there is that site with all the bible blocks - I don't know if it's commercial but maybe a link to the freebies on the site would be acceptable?
Kay, love you to pieces (you're a great swap pal ;-P) and I appreciate your work on putting the addies on one page. But ads? Commercial sites? No, thanks. I've got the addies saved on the iMac Bookmarks and would just as happily find them there. (Have most of them in alphabetical order, too. )
However, it's your endeavor and you get to decide.
I have collected information from the longarm/quilter people, however I was just going to keep a list similar to the directory list and email it to whomever would like to have it. I think adding it onto a webpage such as this would be even a better idea!!!!
I thought the idea was to have somewhere to find other member's picture sites/webpages - i.e. our friends' sites. Of course I count those among us who write books/design patterns/sell their quilts, as friends who are clever!
I don't think general commercial sites are our friends in quite the same way - so no.
Those of our RCTQ friends who do longarm quilting for payment are also different from commercial sites who don't know us 'personally'. We just want to know who they are so that if we live near enough we can ask them to quilt our tops and pay them for it!
It really is to be a reference site for friends, isn't it? Commercial advertising would just clutter everything up.
