quilting thread color question

Try some samples to see how your tension works. As for colors, maybe grey would be good for the back. I often find myself using a medium to light grey as a good blender color. For the top, sometimes a variegated thread combining the dominant colors will work well. Roberta in D

Roberta is right. Try some samples. As for a non-matching color showing through on the back, so what? Ignor it. Any time you use colored thread on the top that does not match the backing fabric you will have that issue to face. I tend to pay attention to how the top will look and forget the back for almost all quilts. Of course, I almost always use muslin as backing and almost always use white thread for the quilting . . . But I think one of the most important considerations, beyond how the top looks, is whether your quilting stitch looks good from the back. If it does, you will in essence have a reversible quilt, pieced on one side and whole-cloth on the other.
