Asking for prayers -- totally on-topic

Ok, I'm committed to making a Jacob's Ladder quilt using really gorgeous fabric. It's an easy block that I've used before. But this will be a special quilt for a special baby and I've already bombed one quilt top that now will become .... something other than a quilt for her. I'm having a hard time lately. My hands are shaking again. And other stuff that would just be TMI but it gets in the way of doing good work.

So I'm asking for prayers, good thoughts, special wishes, good spells, incantations, wishbone wishes.... you name it. I can use all the help I can get. I just can't afford to cut into this fabric and make the stupid and expensive mistakes I made trying to work last week. I could use a big dose of confidence, and some stillness -- both of the inner, spiritual type and the outer, hand-eye coordination type.

Thanks in advance, Sunny

Awww now, Sunny. Get a grip. On the other hand, just relax and climb in. If you make a mistake, we will find a way to fix it. Just no telling what all we could fix with our collective wisdom. Decades ago, I was cutting out a suit of UltraSuede with an incomprehensible Vogue pattern. (UltraSuede was staggeringly expensive and has a right/wrong side, changes colors if you change directions and is way too tough to cut more than one thickness at a time.) Little challenges like not wanting 2 left sleeves or one of the skirt's backs to be 3 shades lighter than the other. I wondered what in the world the awful stink was only to see that I'd put out a cigarette in the standard tomato pincushion. Phew. Shaky? Yes. I was. Incantations? Don't know how but there may be some here who do. I'll only send prayers winging their way for you from the Swamp. And hugs. Polly

I think we all lose our confidence sometime or other. Remember, "if a person never makes mistakes, that person is doing nothing!" or something to that effect. Breath deep and jump in, Hugs, Michelle G.

All positive things to you. Remember you can do this. It is only nerves that is preventing you from doing this all in your stride. So, deep breath. Check all your instructions. Clear the decks and take the phone off the hook. Then settle down and just do it. It will come right, but from the slogan on my t-shirt...

Don't cut any corners, even if you normally would Do everything calmly and forget about how long it 'usually' takes you. It will take as long as it takes It will be beautiful, finished Only you will notice mistakes Ariadne got turned into a spider (shudder) for being perfect

Enjoy your quilt and enjoy the process. The pleasure you take will shine through your stitches. Smile.

Love and hugs, Nel (Gadget Queen)
