Another failed parent. Very sad. Trouble is, that's probably happened over several generations, so she had no good example to follow. There are some very good parenting skills programmes about.

My MIL, another teacher, told the story of the parental interview she once sat in on: child's parents invited in because of constant swearing of small child. When told of this, the mother turned to the kid and said, 'I've f****** told you! Stop swearing!'

Personally, I've never written anything I was scared to put my true name to.
