Batik blocks at the Rainforest donate Site

While clicking the various Donate buttons in the loop I decided to check out the gifts section of the Rainforest Site and found Indian batik blocks. So if any of you batik lovers wished to have one here's your chance to buy one, and the profits from the sale help save the rainforest. Here's a direct link to the blocks.

I haven't bought anything there myself yet, so I can't tell about the service. I am partial to the cute silver cat thimble though. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Debra Talk about a "one track mind"... when I read "batik blocks", I instantly thought "quilt blocks" - never occurred to me they would be real blocks that are 2" thick.... lol. What would one do with these???

Thanks so much for that link Debra. I have ordered the blocks and the silk skeins. I like to have a go at freehand Batik but want to improve printing with blocks. It is a great site for me!

Well, they have been removed from commercial service, but that doesn't mean they are useless. Some of the ladies who are trying their hands at dyeing, or making their own batik prints may want to try using them. Other batik lovers may want to just have one around as a sewing room knick knack.

I have thought about full on tjaps before, but either cannot afford them or don't want to get one when I don't know what the print is. Somewhere around here I have to tjap 'sticks', which are just copper shapes on the end of a stick. They don't carry enough wax to work very well, so I am studying on the real ones.

Service is excellent. I have bought the odd prezzy from those shops over the years, and couldn't resist the glow in the dark glass butterfly feeder last year. The butterfly feeder is something hummingbirds seem rather fond of.

NightMist clicking on the sites since back when they were on a too small LAN in some guy's basement.
