I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me shop for batiks and a special thanks to everyone who has squished me with batiks!! I finished the HUGE scrappy batik for my husband late last night. He has named it good vibrations. It is based on the corn off the cobb pattern that can be found at quiltbug.com Pics can be seen at

Mmm - Lovely, Jan! . In message , " snipped-for-privacy@gmail.com" writes

Jan, that quilt is beautiful! And, I love how you quilted it! Perfect for a man.......did you use a CL template? I don't have a CL but I'm finding I really like the look of quilts that are finished with one.......

Thanks Laurie!

No, that is done with a quilt ez template. I can't justify the price of circle lord. I so rarely work from the back of the machine. I usually do only free hand. I don't even offer pantographs. ;-) The borders were all free hand calla lillies but I think I forgot to upload a pic of those. It's what I carried in my wedding so I wanted to put something sentimental in there ;-)

Smashing! The batiks are wonderful, but in this case, quilting really does 'make' the quilt.

It really turned out great Jan. From another Jan........

Wow! You finished that in a hurry! And it's just beautiful....... the yellow is perfect for all those batiks, and your quilting is really striking. Great job. Congrats!!

Wow! Congratulations, Jan! It's beautiful! I love batiks (among other fabrics ), and this one is just wonderful. I really like the way your quilting emphasizes the squares. :)

Howdy!

Indeed! Beautiful borders, too. Way to go, Jan!

Wow! I love the way you quilted it. I have bunches of batiks I need to do something with. Maybe one of these days I'll get inspired to actually make a quilt out of them!

OK, I'm curious. After seeing the beautiful quilting results on your quilt, I'd like to know more about the EZ templates. I went to their site, but still can't tell how they work. It looks as though they are adaptable to some regular sewing machines. Is that correct? I'd like to know more......
