batting scraps

oh clever one, a great idea. machine trapunto on cushions done just in plain muslin is gorgeous. its every so easy too. you use water soluble thread in the top, reg thread in the bobbin. draw fairly simple design on the fabric square...a flower with small centre circle and a couple rows of wide flat end petals round is real pretty. then with a piece of batting behind, sew thru both round the design. now cut off the excess batting right up to the outside row of petals.

now add a full square cushion size piece of batting and sew the same lines with regular thread top and bottom. this doenst have to exactly on the same lines just so the design is how you want it, going as smoothly as you can manage. a design you can do in one continuous line is best tho.

when washed the first lot of thread will dissolve. the flower will be double batted and the rest will be single batted. Voila!!! machine trapunto that you can then make into a cushion cover as you fancy. this is a pretty quick method of making a lovely quilted item too so great for a fast-ish gift when required. hth. theres a pix of one i did yonks ago on my webshots. first album iirc. cheers, jeanne
