Black, White and Red All Over

Several years ago, I took part in a swap with other RCTQers. We were each given a piece of red and white fabric and were to put our own black and white fabrics with it. Each of us then had 16 blocks. I FINALLY finished mine. It's in my 2010 Quilts folder (I should have put it in 2007,

2008, 2009, and 2010!) if you'd like to see some samples of creativity on the part of your fellow quilters.

I enjoyed that, Louise. It's fascinating to see the different results of the swap/challenge. You don't hold the record though, do you? It seems like someone here finished a quilt that took 7 years; more or less. Polly

Nope, it's not a record. But 7 years sounds a little "young." I'll bet there are some even older ones out there!

Louise, wow, I love the end result. You did a marvelous job all way around, block arrangement and the quilting...ooo la la! If it had to take that long...well, it was worth the wait. It's just beautiful! Donna

Louise, I participated in this swap, and all of my blocks are neatly wrapped in acid-free tissue, tucked in a pillowcase, and stuck in a box somewhere from my move to Florida........ so don't feel bad! I enjoyed seeing your quilt - it's just stunning. Was nice to look at the blocks again too! Your sashing "made" the quilt - just beautiful!

It's so good to hear from you Patti! I couldn't remember everyone who took part in this swap, so I'm glad you chimed in. Isn't this the one that we also made siggie blocks to be incorporated into the quilt? I remember putting them together and setting them some place special so I'd remember where they were. You guessed it! I can't remember where! If I ever come across them again, I think I'll applique them to the backing, because they'll be a nice reminder of everyone who made blocks (and if I'm lucky, I'll be able to match them up to the blocks based on the fabrics!)

Do let us know when you remember where the 'special place' is. I just know that I collected men's silk ties to use in my 'one day' crazy quilt. I gently dismembered them and put them away. Where, oh where? Polly

That'll work for me - as you can tell, I'm not in a hurry about such things!
