Buying quilting books

I'm kicking myself for missing the last book sale mentioned on this newsgroup (with the $5 books) so I'm resolved to pay more attention!! Where do you go to buy your quilting books? Do you have a favorite on-line place or are you fortunate enough to have a place local? I've been checking out loads of quilting books from our library, then I buy the ones I really like, but it is pretty expensive. Alas, I just need to win the lottery!

I'm not affiliated, etc., but I buy quite a few books from bomc2.com . I joined several years ago because i'm too impatient to wait on a library list, and too broke to pay book store prices:) BOMC2 used to be zooba.com--their books are usually $9.95, including postage. It's worth checking out!

Altho I really don't like supporting them because of some of their business practices, but walmart.com often has very good prices on quilting books. And their shipping charges are reasonable.

I get mine on Amazon. I buy them used and they are very inexpensive. The last one I bought was $1.50 with something like $2 shipping. Buying used is the trick. This last one I just got, was extra fun because the quilter who had it originally had a few notes in the margins with tips, etc. I felt a real connection with whoever this was...just two quilters trying to figure out the instructions. lol Donna

reading the home page, didnt notice it til today...they do NOT shipoutside the usa. bummer. i know nothing about their service or shipping costs. i just look at the site now and then, not much point for me after reading that today tho, oh well. you might find something there that works for you. quilting is in the 'Needlecrafts' section, down the left hand menu. when i checked just now, they show 304 quilting books. j.

over in the used book section; sometimes for $ 1. They don't always have the book I'm hunting but it does make me smile when they do. Polly

I get quite a few from amazon. Sometimes there will be used ones available for considerably less than amazon's price. I've also bought used ones on e-bay. I bought one from connectingthreads.com a few weeks ago when they had all their books on sale 40% off. I seldom buy a book online unless I've seen it in person. I like to check out quilting books from the library (either the public library or the guild library). If I decide it's something I really want, I'll buy it where I can get a good deal on it.

Trixie,

A great way to build your personal quilt book library at low cost is to purchase them from other quiltmakers.
