Introducing myself

Hello, all! I've just joined the newsgroup and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a quilter (obviously), a wife of 30 years, a mother to two grown children, and grandmother to one adorable 3 year old grandson, whom I am fortunate to babysit two days a week. I've been quilting for about 12 years, but can never find enough hours in the day to quilt, despite not working outside the home. Other hobbies are reading, knitting (socks), and sewing things other than quilts now and then.

I'm also a blogger, and hope you'll stop by my blog some time at

The blog is used "to make our expensive hobby more affordable" with fabric, book and notion sale announcements; book reviews; DIY projects for the quilt and sewing room; and lots more! I do try and do a weekly GiveAway -- and this week's giveaway is for an item that will let you combine two of your passions - your family and quilting! This looks like a great group, and I hope to be an active participant!

Thank so much for the nice welcome!

I have a small set of quilt photos on Flickr. You can see them here:

I also have some on my "personal" blog -

but I'm not sure how many are there. What is "QI"???

I actually haven't had much time to quilt for several months now. Life keeps getting in the way :( I just recently decided to set aside one day a week where I would stay away from the computer, from blogging, from email, from housework, and from babysitting -- and dedicate it to just quilting. I have a lovely quilt room that's just gathering dust and keeps calling my name!

As Pat said, you have a "private" page set up, so we can't see it. :(

QIs are usually -- but not always -- four-legged and furry, though they can have feathers and two legs or scales and no legs.

Again as Pat said, "you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din"! I can't seem to stay away from the computer, the housework, etc. But having my computer in my quilting room does help. ;)

Hi, Joan! welcome to RCTQ! We're a fun bunch o'gals and guys. We all love chocolate and quilting. So, have a cuppa tea/coffee/ beverage, and join in the fun.

OK, I think I have the Flickr thing figured out. I feel badly that there aren't more quilt pics in there, but hey! You get to see my sweetie pie grandson!

Greetings, JoanOH! Welcome to the Land of RCTQ. We have fun here, no moderator, no rules. The only thing you really need to know is that it is very wise to have your chocolate vetted. Just send a pound or two to the Office of the Official Chocolate Taster of RCTQ, which is in my Palace here in Virginia. I will test and taste and report back via email. You don't have to thank me ... this is my unselfish volunteer duty in RCTQ. A tough job, but someone's gotta do it. :)
