It's time for the 2007 ALA Auction Quilt! Each year since 2000 quilter/librarians from all over the U.S. (and abroad--hi, Tutu) have collaborated on a quilt that is contributed to the Silent Auction at the American Library Association Annual Conference. Proceeds from our efforts have raised more than $2000 for graduate library school scholarships.
This year's quilt is "Random Stars," featuring bright Variable Stars on a common black-on-black background. The stars range from 3" to 12".
Anyone who works in, for, or with libraries can participate. (You can be an MLS librarian, support staff, a trustee.) Kits cost $8 and include a FQ of the common fabric and two 4"x12" brights (enough for 2 6" stars). The fee helps defray the cost of fabric to finish the quilt and for professional long-arming.
Completed blocks are due March 10, so NOW is the time to tell me you'd like to play -- I will send you my address.
Thanks for your interest.
