Quilt Challenge Winner on Today Show Jan 9

Good morning, I didn't see this posted yet. I just received this email from the Cotton Club (NAYY). I know it's not much notice, but maybe some of you can catch it.

Hi Everyone,

We just received news that the grand prize winner of the $100,000 Quilt Challenge will be announced Tuesday Morning, January 9, 2007 on NBC TV's Today Show. We have been told the winner will be there to receive "her" check and show her quilt.

We do still have copies of the Premier Issue announcing the challenge as well as Issues 2, 3 & 4, but we are out of Issue 1. If you aren't familiar with the challenge and want to know more, go to:

If anyone did record it this morning, it's on around 9:30 AM EST.

It was a beautiful whole-cloth quilt that was machine (I think) quilted with amazing details. And the quilter won $100,000; it was a purchase prize. The quilt now gets auctioned off to raise money for a variety of causes.

And a new challenge begins for 2007.

Howdy!

Got that email yesterday so I watched the Today show which I usually don't/won't.

Gorgeous wholecloth quilt displayed, not enough info about how she quilted it (in 3-4 months) but they did do close-ups on the quilt.

Roker's an idiot; at the end of the segment he grabbed the quilt and jerked it aside to show the "quilt angels" behind it, 2 large, burly men wearing white cotton gloves to hold the quilt in place. They also interrupted the Cotton Club spokeswoman, but what else it new? Still, they showed the quilt, the quilter, the magazine and discussed the competition. Way to go! And $100,000 in the quilter's pocket!
