Collecting for

Every so often one of us asks:

What are YOU collecting for?

It doesn't have to be a WIP (Work in Progress) ((Christmas 6" finished squares TATW)) have a due date ((Butterfly Attic Window)) could even be a someday ((B/W))

or even have to be fabric ((Thimbles, cup/saucer, butterflies))

so what ARE you collecting?

And if we ask for your snail addy PLEASE do not put it on here...private email is best. ((Not all of us are in the Directory by choice))

If it's sewing related then it would be sewing machines and thimbles. The sewing machines are complete - no more needed or wanted. Thimbles just happened and then others noticed and they started to multiply.

Fabric wise it would be black & tan. Hopefully someday I'll have a large enough assortment to make a scappy queen size bed quilt.

Outside, it would be frogs. I had one cast iron frog by my step and my SIL noticed. Now every year I get at least one more frog. My DH even got a large frog statue with a bandage over it's heart and two on it's leg and one on it's arm when DH had his by-pass surgery. People can't help but notice and then add to our collection. When you enter our yard you'll hear the real frogs croaking! I do enjoy THEM! They put me to sleep every night in the summer.

Neutrals - even before the latest post about wedding quilts made from neutrals, I started collecting them to eventually make a king size quilt for our bed. I still haven't decided on a pattern, but I want something that creates movement, and I'm hoping a variety of fabrics will help with that.

I;ve realised my stash is very much biased towards the red/pink/purple colours and I have very little in the way of greens in comparison. This may be an issue with doing that Christmas Tree project I had thought about!! Morag

I'm collecting for a black/white quilt as you go quilt. I finished it as a very nice lap quilt and my husband liked it so much he wanted it to be queen sized for our bed. It's not a high priority; I'm just collecting the fabic and putting it away until I have what it takes to finish. So far the colors are black/white/deep auburn-barownn.

I won't say what I envisioned when you said Dead relatives-other than it had to do with photos....

Fabrics: darks and small prints for applique Notions: any color of thread Applique patterns--flowers, birds, & cats mostly.

British TV shows--mostly comedy and sci-fi (don't like Dr. Who), but I loved "Life On Mars" too.

I'll share some of my Dead Relatives - might also throw in a few living ones if you'd like ;-). Some of the older photos really look like a scary bunch!

There are fabrics that I collect whenever I see them. Someday I hope to figure out a good way to showcase them in a quilt or three. Yellow roses Sewing theme sometimes cats "weird stuff" sometimes unicorns-- when the mood strikes.

I do also collect thimbles, unicorns and yellow/gold roses. And lots and lots of dust (bunnies and otherwise.)

However, I really *should* be trying to clear out a heck of a lot of this stuff. sigh.

Thanks for asking,

Hmmm of the quilting related collections it just depends on what my mood is at the time I'm shopping. Yeah, I'm fickle.

Fabric - novelty prints of any kind, but particularly cats because I want to make a memory quilt in memory of my precious Sarge. He went to the Rainbow Bridge last month and I miss him terribly. He was my big lap kitty. Rulers/templates of any size/sort/pattern

Non-quilt related shot glasses from anywhere and everywhere clowns angels

LOL, of course as soon as I hit "Send" I remembered that I have started to collect "blender" fabrics. I have lots of novelty prints and large prints and find that I really need the tone-on-tones and other "read as solid" type fabrics to use with the others. sigh.

And I still buy wonderful print fabrics..........

On topic collections would be:

- 'materials' and texturals for appliqué

- any fabric, book, pattern I see that I really like if I can afford it at the time (small collection so far)

- pictures from catalogs, magazines etc. that inspire me in some way (color combinations, pattern, quilting, embellishments etc)

- sewing room ideas for when we finally get the house remodeled and I have my own closed off space

Off topic collections:

- ideas for our major house remodel

- used to collect Precious Moments and Memories of Yesterday figurines - started by my mom as a kid and I still have the collections, but haven't add to them in several years

For some reason I'm not into collecting things like I used to be (used to do stamps and stickers as a kid, then did books by my favorite authors, trinket boxes, my figurines, and wolf items as teen/young adult.)

I always love cats fabrics, batiks and paisleys. I actually have a cat quilt that I may someday drag out the various components, see what else I need and finish that puppy, but the others are just colors/types/patterns that I love. Just Because>

Well, I am collecting black on white prints and white on black prints, for a friend (25 on July 31) who loves those two colours best. Hmm.

For myself, I love stripes and rainbows and stars. Best of all are rainbow stripes. I need to make a rainbow stripey quilt all for myself.... I would never want to get out of bed if I had that on it!

Things that I collect that are not fabric? Books, coins, stamps, cookbooks, and other people's children.

We love Dr. Who! I liked it when I watched it in the 70's and I like it now. In fact, the new season is starting tonight!

I am always looking for any kind of blender fabric. Whenever I go to the LQS I end up bringing home marvelous prints, and no blender.....
