convenience cloth

Moda has a new line of fabric. It really is sort of cheater fabric but they call it convenience cloth. It doesn't look half bad but you gotta laugh at the name! Here is a link:

Thanks, I think, Taria! I went to view other Moda fabrics and now they also have an 'Owl' line - one day, maybe? jennellh

Howdy!

"Quilter-friendly" works for me.

We have a sample of this quilt made at the store. It looks very "real" as in looks like you spent hours hand appliqueing. To be truthful, it isn't selling very well at several stores locally. If you are interested I would wait a few weeks. I bet many stores start close-out sales on it.

It is pretty. And I like the name better than "cheater quilt".

I figured as much ... I think, personally, it serves better as inspiration or a "pattern" than a fabric. I wonder how many similar quilts, but REALLY appliqued, will turn up at next year's quilt shows?

Moda would have done MUCH better to have used the coordinating fabrics (sans the panels and convenience cloth) and released the "cheater" cloth as a pattern instead! :)

Did ya'll know that a long, long, long time ago, Betty Crocker used to package and sell complete cake kits where you only added water? Did they sell? Nope. Homemakers refused to buy them, saying that adding only water to the mix was "cheating" and therefore not good enough for their families - they wanted to have more of a hand in it. So BC changed the needed ingredients to water AND eggs and it flew off the shelves! We all want to add a little more than the minimum - especially if it means it "makes it ours!"

To me, quilting's the same way. :)

Hugs!! Connie :) (Who's thinking of using the fabric as a pattern!!)

Foolish me... I did the Amy Bradly Peek-A-Boo quilt from scratch! I've seen the panel done up -- and it looks right good!

Certainly beats the hours and hours I spent on applique! Call it "cheater"... call it "convenience"... call it "quilter-friendly". When they look good and save time... and make a cute, cuddly, warm, huggable quilt.... I say we call 'em SMART!
