Directory?

Have no idea what it is, but remembered either Alice or LN who used to do the list saying that they used to have to cut and paste each entry, but now the computer did it, but perhaps I misunderstood.

On the Other Hand: Not everyone is in the Directory anyhow!

Anyone who wants to send a squishy or chocolate can just email me (or any other potential recipient) for the address. If I am not in the mood for a squishy, I'll just say so! Otherwise, I'll send my address. I do love Belgian Chocolate, BTW. ;)

Just my two cents here since I have been involved this time up close and personal. I believe that the information in the Directory is very personal and is provided for the purpose of sharing with others of the same commitment to the group and its purpose. Just because someone joins the group does not necessarily mean they get into the Directory on the first attempt. For this Directory, there were 65 new entries. Each one was analyzed to determine length of time on the group, number of postings, number of responses and frequency of postings that were quilt related. This was my first time doing the vetting process and it was the toughest part of the process. Not all of the 65 entries made into the Directory this time. I was given that responsibility so I took it very seriously. Karen may use a different method. I can't feel badly about keeping someone out this time but I would be crushed if I let someone in that did not honor the privacy of our members. If those that did not make in this time are truly interested in our group, they will keep posting and filling out the forms. If they did not make it in this time and would like to send squishies, they can contact me and I will get the approval to provide the address or they can ask the person via email or on the newsgroup. What's important for those who do not make it in this time to remember is that it's not personal and when they do get into the Directory, they can be fully assured that their information is safe and secure.

I think February or March would be the perfect Directory update time. It's after the major holidays and before vacation time. The form should be left open for a month and then closed - no exceptions.

But like I said, that's just my two cents.

Well said, Alice. I totally agree with all you have written here; and, with your experience, two very large cents - probably dollars >g< . In message , AliceW writes

You took the words right off my keyboard Pat! A well thought out opinion by Alice and it certainly shows the care and consideration she has given her "duties". I, too, thought it was worth a lot more than two cents! Thanks again Alice!

Oh Alice, it's so good to see you! I'm so out of the loop here, I actually forgot the Directory wasn't sent out! I'm glad you've finally had some time to come up for air. I guess I've become one of those "old-timers" who rarely posts any more, but I try to keep up with the group when I can. I do love keeping myself in the Directories, though, and I have almost all of them saved on my computer. I like to look back at them and remember some of our other former posters and wonder where they are now. I also get a little sad seeing the names of those who are no longer with us. We've lost quite a few dear friends over the years I've been with this group, like Barb Watson, MeSue, JJ, Sonya, just to name a few. I'm so thankful we've had you looking out for our privacy all this time. You've done a wonderful job, and we so appreciate all your time and the effort you've spent!
