Directory is Done!

The 195 copies of the Directory have been sent. No emails have bounced so I am assuming all 195 have made it through.

If you submitted a form for entry into the Directory and did not receive a copy, please don't take it personally. We treasure all of our members and not making it into the Directory this time just means we need to get to know you a little better. Keep on posting and responding and asking questions. The Directory will be updated early next year and everyone is encouraged to fill out the form once it is available at that time.

Should anyone want to send squishies or other treats to a member, it's ok to ask them directly for their address.

Alice, I assume this latest message means all the members have gotten copies of the directory.. If so, I have not. Boo Hoo, why not? niasha

YAY!!!! Cheering wildly!!!

Hope you are enjoying a much deserved rest!

Thanks Alice

I am in the same boat. Checked my mail, and even the bulk(junk) mail folder. :-(

But, kudos to Alice for all her hard work, and managing close to two hundred members!

Dear Alice, Thank you for all the hard work. What a mountain of a task you took on and now you have delivered it beautifully.

Thank you Alice. I got it twice ;-) cuz I must have gotten the first round before the bouncing address. Super good job on it, easy to read and understand.

Now, once life lets me back into my sewing room I must make use of it!

I agree with Sunny, Thank you for all your hard work.....

The second copy dated May 1 is the "official" document. Shred the first one.

Due to the tildes you use in your screen name, you were the FIRST to get it!

Feel better!--

Alice, thank you so much! What a wonderful email to receive upon coming home from work.

Received mine Alice..... thank you so, SO much for all your effort, and the diligence you exercised in protecting our privacy.

some of the members sending thanks are *long* time, been in the directory for *years* kind of members that don't post as much as they used to for many reasons

I'm in it too even though lately I haven't posted as much as I used to but I have in the past and a quick google will prove it (I even hold a record for number of posts in a certain month LOL) even so I didn't get in the first directory I tried to enter so please be patient and keep on posting next time you are bound to get in :-)

Alice, I got mine. Super job...thank you so much for doing it.

Once a year the person who very kindly volunteers to do the directory posts a form for for people wanting to be in the Directory. It contains our real names, addresses, favourite colours, birthday date and e-mail, so everything in it is very confidential. You will appreciate the work that goes into it and the fact that those included have been posting for some time, and are 'known'. It isn't posted publicly, but sent individually by e-mail.

This time the 'form' was available for about a month and was well advertised in postings in August/September for distribution late in

2006. Unfortunately Alice was then inundated with work committments that took her away from home, and has only just been able to finalise it and send it out - hence all the thanks. She really has done a wonderful job under considerable difficulties.

I have just looked in the archives and seen that you actually had problems with the original form, but commented then that you had not been posting long, and I presume that this is the reason. I seem to remember that I had been around for about a year before I applied and went in the Directory.

Alice has said that the next list will be early in 2008, and she now has Karen to help her, so the load on her will not be so heavy.

Hope this helps.

Could not have said it better myself. Thanks Sally for providing a very well worded explanation.

Sue, the Directory is sent to each person as an attachment to an email. It is not posted on the group or anywhere else on the web. I am sorry you did not make it into the Directory this time. There were 65 new entries that had not been in previous Directories and only 18 of those were included this time. Frequency of posting and % of postings that were quilt related were among the criteria I used. We cannot tell when you read the posts so there is no way to judge that activity. I would recommend that you keep on reading but also post questions, comments and quilting information as well as responding to other postings. The form will be open again in early next year.

Google doesn't seem to give the amount of information they used to. Just gives a list of all the postings, - no numbers of posts in a month/year any more. I don't like the layout as much either. They used to give a list on the lefthand side showing all the posters to a particular threasd so you could glance down the list and find the one you wanted to see, but now its just the main list of postings with messages attached.

Not as user friendly at all - especially if you are trying the break records!

Howdy!

Same here, Sue. Thing is: I didn't sign up to be in the directory, didn't fill out any form to be included. Didn't ask to be in the directory: not in the directory; that makes sense to me. ;-) I just kept on quilting.

Cheers! Ragmop/Sandy

Sally, I still get all of that information on Google
