Done is good!

Have been posting sporadically here lately, as I've been working quite feverishly on a signature/warm_wishes quilt for last few weeks and it is now DONE!!! Yippee!!

Right before Christmas I learned that a co-worker, a gal who started working the same day I did (25 years ago!!!) was diagnosed with stomach cancer, which had spread to her liver and esophogas....hence I wanted to get this quilt done as quickly as possible. While Deb and I have since gone on to other departments, I've always felt a special bond with her because of our shared 'anniversary date.' So, I engaged another co-worker, who works in the same office as Deb, to obtain signatures & warm wishes from as many people as possible on her floor, on 29 6-1/2" x 2-1/2" blocks. Even the president signed one :). I collected them all two weeks ago (having done as much as I could on the blocks ahead of time) and have been working like a maniac trying to get the quilt done...it is not fancy by any means, basic blocks and stitch in the ditch with invisible thread, as the signature blocks are the 'highlight'. =20

I did take pics, but my main computer has been down (been using my laptop recently) and we just got it rebuilt with a new motherboard and CPU. My files are all still there (the hard drive didn't die, just the motherboard, and I had partitioned the hard drive into 5 virtual drives, in order to protect my files) but now I have to now reinstall all my programs. That will take a week LOL

Anyway, what a relief to have this quilt done!!

I don't know how in the world your helper managed to get 29 signed pieces. By what I've heard, it is really difficult to get people not to put it off, go outside the lines, use the wrong pen or other variations. Good, good for you both. Happy dancing for you. Polly
