Down Duvets

The Goose Company: Down Duvets

Natural down bedding and feather duvets are by far superior to synthetic pillows and duvets. A goose is a much bigger animal compared to a duck. The cluster of goose down is therefor much bigger and stronger compared to duck down. It lasts longer and does not become clotty after many years of use. It also insulates better so less filling is required to get the same Tog rating. Goose down duvets are therefor much lighter than a duck down duvet.

For most areas of South Africa we recommend our 10,5 tog Autumn Duvet for winter use, unless your house is particularly cold in winter, or if you feel the cold much quicker compared to other people. Some of the warmer coastal regions, especially north of Durban would find our

4,5 tog duvet warm enough in winter, and the very cold areas of the Free State would find the 13,5 tog duvet better for winter.

Our down duvets can be machine washed using a mild liquid detergent. Put your goose down duvets in a big top loader machine (8kg or higher) and let it fill up. Squeeze the air out of the duvets and let it soak for while. Put on a gentle cycle using cold or lukewarm water. Hang the duvet out to dry. If it is not dry by evening tumble dry at a low temperature.

Our down duvets should last a lifetime. The exquisite sleep experience of a goose down duvet is unparalleled. Compared to duck down duvets, a goose down duvet inner is much lighter and more durable.
