Excellent news!
How much of the sub. are you going to show? You could just have the conning tower - and lots of wake and waves >g<
No - do the lot above the water. . In message , Eddie writes

No, do it entirely underwater with lots of whales, etc.! VBEG

Hi Patti Have already drawn the Sub on Vilene. She will be depicted just descending from periscope depth. With the surface above and the dark depths below. I think we have some whale material to fit in swimming nearby. I have stopped to have a think about the materials to use as I wish an effect similar to the Daring with sunshine dappling the black hull in places. Eddie

Oh that's sounds exciting Eddie.
There are some wonderful 'ombre' fabric which go from light to dark in various colours. I got some in fairly 'bland' colours - but one is a grey to black. I'm sure there are some blue and green ones, that I don't have. Try looking up 'ombre fabrics' somewhere. You might want to use quite different fabrics of course - just thought I'd mention these. There are some Hoffman ones, but they shade from one colour to another - rather than being shade of the same colours. . In message , Eddie writes

How funny! I am beginning work on an "Under the Sea" type of quilt for Mark, using Laural Burch's Ocean Songs fabric. On the sea bed will be sand, an old metal diving helmet, a treasure chest, etc. In mid-ocean area, Mark has made it quite clear he wants an Astute class submarine. It is not really the same scale as dolphins and mermaids, etc, so our compromise is that he may get one quilted into the quilt. A stealth submarine as it were.......
Where did you get the template for your submarine? Just googling images of the Astute submarine?
