Edible yo-yo's ?

Well, maybe not 'edible' but gotta be chewable. My hope is always that the crib quilts I make will survive: Daddy helps with the laundry and baby uses her quilt for a Batman cape. The quilt underway is Buggy Days from Fons & Porter's Baby Quilts Winter 2008. All it is is baby buggies using yo-yo's for wheels. Cute. Sweet. To get to the point - I tried several different threads to see which one would let me yank the center of the yo-yo's down nicely. The winner, of all things, is a beading thread. It is a leftover from when a friend was adding bling to one of those WH corset quilts. Lessons remembered: turn under a tiny edge, make klutzy long stitches and use a tough thread. I really don't know how well this beading thread performs in the long run. Anybody ever tested it? Polly

Last time I did 'yank-it-hard' gathering I used cotton dental floss. Worked a treat, and being cotton (waxed) should last a fair while.
