Hopefully, mine is going in the mail tomorrow -- sorry I have been down with a bad back, MRI on Wednesday for this claustrophic person will hopefully tell whether it is a ruptured disc or not -- but I have this hideous color that I can only best describe as Pepto-bismo pink from my pitifully small stash. Just hoping it doesn't win the award for the Ugliest of the Uglies. Giggles. Happy Early Thanksgiving to all my quilting friends in the US who will be celebrating later in the week.

Ah, Coleen, poor baby. I guess the day will come that I have to do an MRI and I truly hope that they will find a way to get me deliriously relaxed beforehand. We once inherited a Pepto-mismo pink + flamingo pink + pastel pink + dreary rose bathroom. It would have gagged a goat. We'll hold you close in our prayers that your back troubles are something easily and gently resolved. And rest easy. We won't be giving prizes for the Ugliest. Now, I ask you, what in this world would we give for a prize? Polly

Looks lik I'm suffering from Val's AAADD problem as I completely forgot about the uglies. I do know I have to head to the post office to pick up an express post baggy thing for DH tomorrow so I'll make sure it's posted then. Yup, so long as I remember why I had to go somewhere.....

Same here. I get a bit panicky in lifts. A scan like that would give me the willies for sure!

PS: Uglies will be posted... They are SO ugly I never got round to washing them. This is a good time to try. You may want to pray that they disintegrate in the wash.

I literally just returned from a cervical spine MRI about 15 minutes ago. They tried last week -- but it was a no go.

Do I mind sitting in the inside of a booth? No -- not a problem. Do I mind elevators? No -- even got stuck in a small one once for about 20 minutes... no problem. I enjoy tanning beds. When my DS's were little and we played hide - and - seek -- I would often go into a closet and close the door behind me.

Wheel me into the traditional MRI machine... I had a meltdown. Now -- I am a large person. Too Large. I know that -- so fitting in that machine almost required a shoe horn -- maybe it wouldn't have bothered me if I was a size 6. Or maybe if I had done what I did today -- and wore a sleep mask -- so I couldn't see... just lay there with my eyes closed (or open) and listened to the sounds.

It would be nice if there was some way you could bring a CD of you favorite music and they could play it for you. I know it would be hard to hear over the machine -- but if you had to focus on the music... and you could sing along in your head.... I bet the time would fly by.

Anyhow, Coleen, I did it today! If you can handle having your eyes covered... I found that very helpful -- just a run of the mill sleep mask that I got on an airplane years ago. Deep breaths. You can do it... You'll be fine!

All the MRI's I have had done, and I've had 3 in the past year, have been the open MRI's. Those are supposed to be better. My step-daughter has difficulty with those. Her doctor gave her valium or something to take before she had one, and she still almost didn't make it through. The technician had to keep talking to her and reassuring her. The worst part for me is the awful clanging and the fact that it gets very uncomfortable on that hard table. You aren't supposed to move, and of course that is when your nose itches, or you need to sneeze, lol.

What a good idea you had, Kate! I've only had two MRIs (both in the same day years ago), and I'm with you -- I do fine in small spaces, but the MRI "tube" almost drove me screaming from the room. I finally closed my eyes and hoped for the best, but a sleep mask would have been wonderful.

Ms Polly, i missed how this started but i am totally offended (heehee) that anyone could possibly think that Rust or any Green is ugly. its just mind boggling, i mean green??? this is mother natures neutral. green goes with every other colour there is, ok ok, so not all greens go with all colours but damn it theres lots of different colours that will go with any green you can show me. now i'm not a big fan of thimbleberries fabs but as i was just getting started on removing some of the pieces i attached in any old way i could manage to my carry on stuff i noticed the name on one green i bought and it was much like WV, T-BG-B, who'da'thunk. seems even they have a fabric i like. well it is a green and as i said, green is mother natures neutral. its the most amazing part of my return home. the sheer variety of greens and the intensity of some of the greens here in my own little suburb in auckland. i mentioned to someone while in usa you just cant stop things growing here. its darn near impossible to kill off plants unless they get soggy feet. oops. which happened to all the wee aloe vera i planted in the wrong place in my garden and we had a rather continuously wet spring this yr, oh dear me. oh well, off to find another aloe to start the process all over again and this time put them in a dryer spot. my pomegranates are doing well tho. i now have three of them into yr 3. they are slow to reach a stem/trunk size that will bear the weight of the fruit so i dont expect them to flower/fruit this yr either but it is much fun watching my babys grow bigger and stronger each season. oh dear i did it again, rambling....sigh...sorry bout that but gee, its so good to be back home. home is where i want to be, (sorry bout the singing folks, lol) now to get my own house renovated (gotta get all the kids out too, one returned from finishing uni this month and is working now but saving to get a flat/house hopefully soon cuz they brought all their stuff with them too, argh, like we didnt already have enough 'stuff') so i too can have my overseas online quilting buddys to come stay with me. it was such fun meeting and getting to know them at a more personal level. i am tired from the travel but it could be just the return trip that did it more so than the travel there. my legs and feet are still gettting adjusted and the sleep patterns and coherency is still not fully back to square one. a few chores to get to today tho. like check all the mail that arrived and see what needs to be done. i do hope its nothing too brain taxing, lol.

I do not like small areas either. You should see if they have eye covers and a headset with music. When I had an MRI the technician gave me a headset for the radio. She put on the station I liked, then gave me little plastic eye covers. I listened to the music, and kept my eyes shut tight.

Polly, I've got some questions for you. Are you going to take pictures so we can see the "ugly stash"? Do you know any color or type of print that is not represented in the fabrics?

I've only sent small squares and have plenty more of each fabric here, plus I've found another ugly.

Oh, I figured you might post such a picture after you were sure Pami had received them. I guess we will have to wait until Pami sews that quilt to see them all. Unless, of course, she wants to take a picture of the whole pile of them when she gets them. Better yet, a picture of Pami surrounded by all the bits!

I think it's more likely that those of us who don't like pastels never let them into our stash. LOL At any rate I haven't got any to send out, pretty or ugly. Maybe you will get some tomorrow.
