Rules/Announcement: "UGLIES" SWAP

Welcome to the uglies swap, where no fabric is too bright, too garish, too hideous, too girly, too manly, too glum, too old-fashioned, too contemporary, or too UGLY.

Because people seem to have a variety of sizes to swap, you can choose to swap a combination of fat quarters and/or sets of 5 different

10-inch squares. For instance, I'll probably swap 2 fat quarters and 2 sets of 10-inch squares. If you send in a fat quarter, you'll get a fat quarter back. If you send in 10-inch squares, that's what you'll get back. No hard limit on the number of items you can send, but if you plan on sending a very large number, email me privately. You may send identical fat quarters and identical sets of squares, as long as each set of squares consists of 5 different fabrics.

Deadline: Please send fabric so that it arrives to me by December 15. I'll get them shipped out within a week of then and you'll all have a nice holiday package to look forward to.

While there won't be an official contest for ugliest fabric, I might think of ways to reward the worst. While the fabric can (and should) be ugly, please swap only 100% cotton good quality quilting fabric, prewashed. Novelty prints are fine too (especially ugly ones - you get the idea).

Please enclose a self-addressed envelope with your squares and enough stamps (not stuck to envelope but enclosed inside) to cover postage back. I prefer this so that I can choose to add surprise give-aways to your package without worrying about needing a different envelope because the weight has changed. Fabric payment will also be accepted in lieu of stamps. For international swappers, include international stamps if you'd like, or just send a little fabric thank you and I'll cover postage.

Feel free to send me an email or reply here if I've missed anything or if this isn't clear. If you'd like to email and let me know how much fabric I can look forward to receiving from youu, I'd love that. Have fun rummaging through your fabric!

Can I ask some more questions, please? Bear with me, I'm new to this.

Do I send in washed fabric? or does it need to be unwashed? Should it be cut or torn? I have a yard of something ugly. Can I send in 4 fats of that or do the fats need to be different fabrics?

What is appropriate to send the person doing all the sorting and mailing? Fabric? How much?

Also, if fabric payment is sent instead of stamps, how do you equate the two? Is a fat quarter considered $2.50 in stamps? or $2.25?

I read the threads, but there is still so much I don't understand. I see all these threads about squichies and someone very nice tried to tell me about it, but I still don't understand the squicie thing at all. I think you're getting fabric but that's all I know.

Thank you.
