I have just uploaded a Star Book to the RCS Challenges Album of my webshots account. Not sure if it fits all the criteria, as I used the instructions from the Craft Stamper magazine with my own twist....LOL That just means I didn't have all the stuff listed in the magazine and didn't intend to buy it either, so I improvised :o) If it doesn't meet the May Challenge that is fine, I am happy with the final project and am planning a few more but bigger next time. Thanks for looking!
That's so pretty Marilyn! I've admired star books from afar, but haven't built up the courage to attempt one. You've done a great job with it for your first time. (Much better than how mine would have come out, I'm sure.)
Looks like a star to me. I love the cutouts - especially the butterfly. How long did it take you to make it? The whole album has a elegant and quality about it. I have not started on mine yet. Still deciding on the paper. Sandy
Deb...they are really easy to do...honestly!!!! I did most of mine last night then put the finishing touches to it today. I think it worked out better than expected and I am going to try a bigger one and add photos to it for my Finnish friend that was here at the weekend to judge the dog show. I thought I could put in her winning dogs, a few photos of scenery from our day out on Sunday, some journaling and hopefully leave a little space for her own thoughts or photos! It would make a nice keepsake for her :o)
Sandy....It only took me a few hours to make once I got the cardstock and paper together. The cutouts were done using my Fiskars templates to draw the shape, then stamping and embossing my chosen images so they overlapped the shape. I then cut the shapes out with a craft knife, trimming close to the stamped image but allowing them to bridge the gap. Hope that made sense...LOL
The one in the Craft Stamper uses a topiary tree stamp, a large leaf stamp (oak I think) and a message stamp. I just opted for a flowery, garden theme with butterflies and flower fairies for good measure....LOL The patterned paper was printed on my printer, the other spring elements, disc, printed ribbon and fibres, plaque, clips, brads and fabric stickers all came from my April Paper Wishes Personal Shooper kit from Hot of the Press. Once I got into the swing of it, it was easy. I hope others try this project as I think it would be a nice alternative to cards for special occasions and they are decorative. Marilyn

Thanks Linda :o) I am currently making a bigger version for a friend in Finland. I have found another set of instructions that peeps may find useful if they like visual clues. Try this link :
Wow, looks great Marilyn. When I looked at the instructions for star books I wasn't sure I would like it so I'm doing a lunchbag album but now that I see a finished project I might have attempt a star for something. Gotta think on that. It looks quite elegant.
Oh my! Marilyn! That is totally awesome!!! My jaw has remained dropped as I viewed each picture. Wooeeee! I feel very humbled here. I am not worthy. Oh, I would love to make one of those. Instructions ?
