I have resurfaced from life's dramas...LOL

Hi everyone,

I have been missing for a couple of weeks while life interfered severely with my leisure time. I started to try and answer posts but feel it is just too big a task to answer them all, so sorry but I have hit the catch up button and will browse later and answer if necessary.

I would like to welcome any new members to the group...you have found a great group to share your scrapbooking addictions with. I hope that anyone with health issues are either recovering well or receiving appropriate medical attention....Kenda, her Grandma and Dorothy in NY are in my thoughts particularly. As is Jessie and her family! Powerful health & healing vibes being sent across the pond to you all!!! I am not big on prayer but I am a positive thinker :o)

When I have had little time I have looked at people's layouts and the April Challenges, M-C, Deb and Sandy......you all did cracking jobs on the April challenge. I hope that I didn't miss anyone else's Altoids Tin but it runs in my mind that someone did an alternative using bottlecaps on a LO. Was it Jennifer? Sorry if it was someone else's and I have messed up. Anyway, well done to all on their work! Kate...you have made some awesome cards over the last couple of weeks and I particularly liked the Dogwood Tree and the paper folding cards for Mother's Day....very cool and well executed. For those interested.....Mother's Day is passed in the UK it was March....LOL There goes the May challenge for me then .....and Sandy's instructions for the Star Book are great but again they won't work for me without modification. UK paper size is different to the US!!!! I will just have to do the one in my magazine this month.....ROFL

Hope to be able to catch up from here on as life has settling down again! Regards, Marilyn

Marilyn,

I have a magnet on my fridge that reads "life happens when you are making plans" so I completely understand.

I'm just glad you are back. Thanks for the comments on my cards.

See you on the boards.

Love, Kate

Thanks Lynne...no problems with people or dogs and that is all that really matters! It was a combination of electrical equipment failure, bricks and mortar maintenance, dog clubs, dog shows and the dreadful weather all at the same time.....LOL Things are back on an even footing....well almost :o)

Welcome back Marilyn, We're glad life has settled down a bit so you can once again enjoy your hobbies. I don't think the May challenge *has* to be for Mother's Day so maybe there is still a way you could do it. Something to think about.

Marilyn, the May challenge does NOT have to be for mother's day. I think that doing it for Mother's Day or Father's Day was just a suggestion. It just should be a paper bag album or a star album. I am probably going to do mine for my daughter's teacher or one for my little girl.

Thanks for the welcome back Lorilee....I realise that the challenge can be for something other than Mother's Day. I just haven't got back into the swing yet and my head is all over the place.....LOL Will really have to give it some serious thought before I can progress. Regards, Marilyn

I realised that Amy....was just talking out loud....LOL. Mother's Day doesn't work for me anyway since my mother has passed on. I can't do the paper bag album as we don't get these paper bags here and I am not that taken with them anyway. Sorry to those that like them......different strokes for different folks as the say!!!! I AM thinking about the Star Book but will have to either modify Sandy's instructions or use the one's in my magazine. Not sure which option suits best at the minute :o)

Oh, ok, just didn't think that you knew since you said that it already passed for your part of the country. Sorry hear about your mother. No paper bags huh? Do you use plastic or the re-useable fabric ones at your grocery store..?...just wondering. I know the acidity in the paper bag makes the album decompose faster which does concern me so if I make an album for my daughter's teacher (which I don't think she would keep it forever anyhow) or my 5 year old (she'll end up ruining it sooner or later) I think those would be my best bets as I don't want to spend a lot of money on an album or time. I think I could do this pretty quickly. I don't think this would be a regular thing for me because of the longevity factor. The star book looks really neat but as soon as I looked at the directions it threw me off. I am not good with a lot of directions and it looked hard, but it's probably just me. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's completed challenges and I hope you end up having time to do the star album. So, in the UK are you talking about the actual paper size is different or just the use of measurements (which could be confusing for conversion)? Just curious.

Hi Amy...firstly...my Mum died 1988 on Christmas Day. Although I will always miss her at special times I am no longer grieving...if you know what I mean :o)

Perhaps there are paper sacks around but I don't come across them here in the UK. We used them for groceries in Australia but here in the UK we use bio-degradable plastic bags. Personally, DH does my grocery shopping and brings most of it home in cardboard cartons, which we then recycle where possible. Better than the alternatives...for although the bags are bio-degradable they are filling our landfill sites and will take many, many years to breakdown in the soil.

Regarding the Star Book instructions...I think if you take them one step at a time you would be okay. It just seems a formidable task when you read the whole thing through. The one in my magazine seems easier, as it is accompanied by pictures and if you are a visual person that is a big help. Our actual paper in the UK is a different size for the US equivalent. Marilyn

Welcome back Marilyn!!! Sounds like a monumental task of trying to catch up! I don't blame you a bit for hitting the "catch up " button. Thank you for the kinda thoughts of related health issues. My Grandma is much better, she just needed looking after better by her daughter. It's still a mystry as to what's going on with me. I think it's the gallbladder but the 2 tests run show it "normal". Well that's becaue they run the silly tests when I'm not hurting or having any symptoms! lol I see a G.I. specialist later in the month. (wonder if I can talk him into just removing the silly thing? Worked with the "womanly parts", got rid of them and all THOSE problems went away......)

Hope you get to spend a bit more time scrappin' and enjoying our newsgroup!

Yes it is quite hard to be creative when feeling scattered isn't it. Hopefully you don't stay scattered for too long.
