Denise, I like your church's concept of the pocket squares. It reminds me of the itty bitty preemie quilts we have done to Tiina in Finland. [waving "Hi, Tiina" in case you ar out there reading!]

I just came across some tiny scraps last night and may find more today. If someone wants them please email me off ng.

As far as the helmet liners, I wonder if you could check with the gal at Quilts of Valor about a contact. I just googled "helmet liners for troops and found this "

formatting link
" . Maybe this can help?

Leslie,

I tried replying to this last week, but none of my emails to the group were going through, so I'll piggyback here.

That is a really cool idea, and you did a wonderful job on the miniature. There's no doubt about it - when you and Pat put your heads together, you're a great team! Whenever you come up with something new, you give me something to think about, and I sure do appreciate that.

And we have such fun bouncing ideas off one another, Louise. I used to think P&Q was a solitary sort of pastime; but not since I met all you lovely people on RCTQ, and found the magic of all this exchange of thoughts and solutions etc. . In message , Louise in Iowa writes

I didn't use any batting of any kind. The mini quilt is backed with a fine white cotton fabric from Pat and then the doubled facing for covering the edges is turned to the back. The many seams (all trimmed to 1/8 in.), the facing and the laminated photo gives it a tiny bit of stiffness to keep it flat.
