My church made pocket squares for our minister to hand out when she went on calls to sick or shut in parishioners. I made 55 of them in two days. We didn't piece them, just 2 different materials and batting, birthed, and 5 yarn ties. They were handed out at a church service for people to knot the ties while praying for the eventual recipient of the square. I used mostly floral scraps and I had a pastel colored tea cup print that was a big hit. I made half of mine for men using darker, more masculine, material. I love quick projects like this.

We also made a ton of small pillows for breast cancer patients to hold up to their chests when in pain. The pillows were batting filled muslin and they each had a removable pretty floral pillowcase.

One of the churches other groups knits or crochets prayer shawls, sort of our version of a hug quilt. They also crochet wool helmet liners for the troups in Iran and Afghanistan. However, they recently lost the contact who would mail them to the proper service people. Does anyone here have a reputable contact in the armed forces who would accept the rest of our liners? One of the ladies has called our local National Guard and a couple other armed forces places and either they don't call back or don't know anything about it. They were originally requested, so someone must have a contact out there.

That is amazing! I would love to take a class from Sally Collins (a member of our Guild), but I'm afraid I don't have the patience to work with teeny, tiny pieces of fabric. I can't believe you accomplished this - with your arthritic fingers.

Oooh I like the idea of a mini quilt. We now have to carry ID cards at work that function as proximity sensors to unlock doors. So I have mine in a plastic holder around my neck. But since my ID picture is butt ugly (aren't they all?) I don't want that side facing out. I thought I would slide in a picture on the reverse side but a teeny weeny quilt would be soooo much better.
