Experiment a HUGE success!

Last week I posted a brief note about some new metallic thread I used that worked so beautifully I had to share. I used it to satin stitch around a moon on a Halloween WH, and not once did it break, tangle, birds nest, or skip a stitch.

Now don't laugh, but a dear friend advised me to purchase a walking foot for my machine a while ago, which I did. Yesterday was the first time I used it, and holy cow! What an enormous difference! I have been sewing/quilting for a number of years and always struggled and fought to machine quilt my piece with a regular foot. Yesterday, there was not one pucker, tuck or "oops" when I quilted around the moon.

I have used several "new" things on this piece, all in preparation / practice for a quilt I will be finishing by Christmas. A new stabilizer, new thread, a different size and brand of metallic needle, metallic thread, curves, and last, but certainly not least, I also bought one of those "Bedazzler" thingys to glue some crystals to the "stars" on my night sky Halloween background. It couldn't have turned out more perfectly, and I'm absolutely thrilled to pieces. It's just amazing what a difference the right equipment makes.

Sorry - no pics. C'mon.... I just bought a walking foot - do ya really think I'm gonna have a digital camera? :-)

Then BORROW one! This sounds so beautiful, and you've described it extremely well, but I really need to see a picture.

Yes, I love my walking foot, too. And Now that I have a knee lift machine, I do almost all of my quilting with it; where most people free-motion, I still chug away with the walking foot! . In message , Patti S writes

How about a Polaroid... and a scanner? You can find a printer/scanner's for only $79!! Some even less than that! LOL

You can even find quality name (Kodak / Fuji / Nikon) cameras with 3 MegaPixels or more for under $150!

Now that is a bargain!

If you're gonna sew... ya gotta be able to show and share!

Ok, then put the quilt on the scanner, scan a section at a time, import the scans to a drawing program and line them up properly so it looks like a single picture, resize the picture, save as a .jpg, then upload to the web. Debra in VA See my quilts at
