Hi, Recently, I bought a Brother sewing machine. when I started sewing, the fabric simply does'nt move. The thread continues to stitch at the same position. Could you tell me what could have been the problem.
Awaiting some help, Learner

Are the feed dogs up?? Are they moving??
Sounds like your feed dogs are dropped. Take the fabric out of the machine and run it without the fabric. Can you see the feed dogs going up and down under the needle? They're like little gripper things that come up out of the base of the machine and 'grab' the fabric. If you can't, look in your manual to see how to get them to come back up again - there's usually a switch at the back or the side.

Are you putting the presser foot down? If the presser foot isn't down, and / or the feed dogs are dropped, the machine can't grip the fabric and will stitch on the spot.
Are you starting the seam with the fabric under the presser foot? If the material is not far enough between the feed dogs & presser foot, it can not pull the material through and will stitch on the spot.
These are the 2/3 most common things to caus eyour problem. Other things could be that you are using a stitch that is very short, or you have a thread tangle.

Another possibility: sometimes it's hard to start stitching at a raw edge. If so, it helps to fold a little scrap to the same thickness as the fabric you intend to sew, start sewing in the middle of the scrap, then stitch off the scrap onto the seam.
