Fabric Yardage Needed for Backing?

Sep 30, 2007 3 Replies

I want to order some fabric for backing I found on sale at e-quilter for a yet-to-be made quilt but don't know how much to order. If the quilt is going to be queen size how much would you think I need to order? I know all you smart math folks will know the answer!!

you don't say the width of the fabric, nor do you say how much you are willing to piece, or how much extra your quilting method requires, myself, I can save a bit by cutting the third strip in half and piecing it to make it longer, so I use 2.5 * the required length, rather than 3. Either way, with standard width fabric 9 yards should definitely be sufficient.

Cheers Anne

Thank y'all so much!! I was thinking maybe 8 or 9 yards so I'll order 9!! More is always better.
