Finished one

Just a little quilt to donate to the Red Cross. I'm taking two over tomorrow. Just a bit of a throw together, birthed, with a nice, cuddly fleece backing. They're both soft and colorful and should be just right for a baby or toddler little fingers to find all the loose stitches and pull until seams fall apart, lol. I am frustrated with the fabric. It's Debbie Mumm stuff from Joann's and shouldn't be so cheap, but the stuff just raveled from the first cut. I ended up double seaming each side when I birthed it (and a lot of interior seams as well) because of the raveling. The worst I've ever seen. I think the next give-away baby quilt I make will be with first quality fabric. I wouldn't be able to make as many, but they would be better. At least the next one will be made with decent stuff.

I'm not going to post a photo. But it's done and will be gone soon. Tomorrow I'm starting the last bit of work before quilting my son's quilt -- flannel that will be quilted onto a really sumptuous pile blanket I bought on sale last year. Just gorgeous colors and really nice to touch. If I work fast, it will be done in time to use it this winter. LOL.

And that is so frustrating! I feel for you. I work in a quilt store and when we talk to people about the different qualities of fabric, I'm sure they think we are just trying to hustle them into buying our stuff. But truly, wherever you get your fabric, get the best you can afford. It makes both the process and the product more fun. joan

No worries, Sunny. Some little child is going to love that quilt even if the fabric wasn't what you expected (although I do understand your frustration). The important thing is that a child will have something "now" when s/he really needs it.

You're a good person. :-)
