First Aid - Not totally OT

Yesterday was the dreaded "make cappellettis day". Think Ravioli folded like little hats and served in broth instead of gravy, er I mean Sauce.

So, I'm cleaning the food processor after chopping up the meat and I cut the heck out of my thumb with the blade. Owie.

Worse yet, I can't get the darn thing to stop bleeding. It's not really deep, more of a thin slice. It doesn't even really hurt that bad.

I got dough to make and caps to fold!

I'm rummaging around for some gauze. We have none. Lots of different Band-Aids, but a Band-Aid ain't gonna do it.

I see a piece of white Warm & Natural sticking out of a drawer. I cut a hunk off, fold it over the top of my thumb and wrap with paper tape. A disposable plastic glove and I'm good to go!

So, if you need something to "pad" a cut, Warm & Natural is the answer.

I've even pulled rags out of my rag bag to pad cuts before! Of course, I'm one of those nuts who runs every "gonna keep" rag through the washer and dryer, so anything I pull out is clean enough to wipe a baby's face. I have gone one step further, though, because stuff always seems to happen around food or lovely fabric -- I keep a box of those disposable latex gloves since they are useful for so many little things. I can stick my bandaged hand into a glove to keep me away from food and food away from a cut, and once I even cut off just a finger of the glove and used that. Latex gloves and good clean rags are staples in my house, the same as safety pins and rubber bands and yesterday's newspaper -- you just never know!

I had finger cots and put one over my thumb. Too fat and it cut off circulation. That DID hurt.

I just bought that box of latex gloves because I've been doing some Gail Wilson kits and there was some staining of the wood involved.

I'm glad I did! I just can't get over how good the W&N padded the cut so it didn't keep opening up every time I bumped it.
