URGENT POST FROM POLLY = from private email request!

Quick if you can! There's a gross disgusting horrible post pretending to be from Kate XXXXXX on rctq just now that nobody should ever open. Defies gagging a maggot. My email address sits at rctq unprotected or I would post a message to the others NOT to open that post. Can you do it? Nothing I've ever tried works to list my return email so I won't get a hit from this evil idiot.

This is one reason why I dislike those URL shortcuts (tinyurl, etc.) -- it's usually impossible to tell that it's a link to something other than what it purports to be. :S

this made me think, Sandy. if someone can make a tiny url, why not be able to reverse it. so i googled and found this page where you can put in the link and it will show you the real url.

formatting link
at the bottom you can copy/paste any url into the box and it will tell you below the real url.in this case it is very obvious that the real one is nothing but garbage.i'm off now to thank that website owner for having that page available for whomever wants/needs it.seems being in the silly season as we are now its gonna come in handy for sure. j.

That's very handy, Jeanne, but I think it's a lot easier just to ignore those URL shortcuts from now on.

For me the useful thing that came out of this was somebody's phrase for it, "enough to gag a maggot". I'll be using that myself someday.

'Tiz a good 'un. isn't it!

I much appreciate all the warnings an stuff you folk have done over this. I'm somewhat less than my usual sparky best, after a week in school (enjoyable but exhausting! Dunno how I ever used to manage full time teaching!), and tha madness that is last-minute Christmas preparation, due to jobs ending so close to the Christmas holidays and feeling wreaked by the fibro for too much of this year.
