fleece as batting?

Will the wool felt even after you pre-shrink it? That would be my only other worry, but if you quilt closely, seems like felting wouldn't be an issue. And it seems like combed wool would work better than clumps. You want a nice smooth even surface to show off your quilting! My favroite cotton batt is only about a quarter inch thick (Hobbs Heirloom). As a service to the rest of us, why not make some sample squares with quilting at varying degrees of distance, and wash them a few times to see what happens? Roberta in D
