Going To Tucson

I know there are some great quilt shops in Tucson that I plan on visiting such as Bella Quilts, Quilters Market, and a few others. Does anyone have any suggestions quilt or non-quilt related for me to see? Some good walking hikes, some great stores, restaurants or attractions.

I also like going up to the restaurants up at the top of mount Lemon

The ski run is open up there right now as well, though I think you would get much better skiing if you went to Colorado.

Brian, I didn't realize you lived in my hometown!!

Kathy, there is lots to see and do in Tucson and the environs. If you like walking, the Living Desert Museum is great. It is a combination of a "zoo" and a museum with lots of info about the Sonoran Desert and it's native dwellers. As mentioned, Sabino Canyon is a long time favorite for hiking and such. Skiing is available up on Mount Lemmon, and so much more. You might want to check to see what is being featured at the State Museum on the U of A campus, there is always neat stuff there, and sometimes quilts. There is also the Photography Museum with lots of Ansel Adams photos and more. As for restaurants--- depends on what you want. There are fairly expensive ones and lots of local "mom and pop" family places, and great Sonoran style Mexican food. Around the University campus there are lots of little places too.

Thanks for the responses. Sabino Canyon is one place I have gone every year since I started going to Tucson. It is a great place. I would love to live in that area. The living desert museum is someplace I have not visited but sounds right up my alley.

I like to eat in the Mom & Pop type restaurants - looking for recommendations.

I would also be interested in some made in the area southwestern jewelry but not on the expensive side - any suggestions on where to go?

Thanks again, Kathy in NH
