Happy Dance in CT

Last winter my 5 year-old granddaughter stayed with us for a week. I took her to the quilt shop to retrieve my sewing machine and she zoomed in on a lovely oriental design. When asked by someone if she liked the fabric she replied indignantly, "I don't wike it. I WUV it!" You can see the (finally) finished quilt at:

in the My Quilts folder. I used the quilt on the cover of Mary Sue Suits book "A New Turn on Drunkard's Path", replacing the center motif with the print panel. Betty in CT snipped-for-privacy@comcast.net

your wee lass has excellent taste in fabric, Betty. she must inherit that from her grandma who is a clever lass herself. i love how you placed the drunkards path and how the quilting emphasizes the whole design. the echoing really puts the whole thing in motion, like wind blowing gently thru the garden. fantastic job. well done you!!!! i wuv it too. :-D happy dancing under the palm trees in the south pacific, jeanne

I wuv it too -what a gorgeous border! Wonder if any fabric designers tune in here. Do they realize how their designs occasionally just bowl us over? Roberta in D

Betty: Nora has very good taste! She picked out great fabric, AND she knows her way around her Grandma's heart!! So, I'm Happy Dancing to the tune "Thank Heaven's for Little Girls."

Thank you all for your lovely comments. She really is a remarkable child--DH says she's "spoiled rotten". Not true!

It was a joy to work on. I "celebrated" finishing it by having some reconstructive surgery last Friday on my left thumb and wrist (had the right one done three years ago) to counteract severe osteoarthritis (lots of pain due to no more cartilage in the base joint) and carpal tunnel. So I am reduced to one-handed stab-stitching for a while. But it doesn't hurt!

Thanks for your lovely comments. I can't take any credit for the drunkards path design--It's straight off the cover of Mary Sue Suit's book "A New Turn on Drunkard's Path" which pattern was fortunately just the right size. I just eliminated the center and put in the large print with a small extra border. It's more a credit to my ability to recalculate how many of those little pieces to cut!
