How many quilts do you have around the house

As a follow up to my other post, how many quilts do you have around the house?

I'm not talking about the ones tucked away in closets, etc. But the ones actually out being displayed/used. Currently in the basement, I have one small wallhanging, one larger wallhanging, and one on the back of the couch.

Upstairs, one on the back of the couch, 2 very small wallhangings in the bedroom, one tablerunner, and one small wallhanging in the dining room.

Plus, my teapot quilt is in the frame for handquilting and my Lone Star wallhanging is sitting in the living room waiting for me to finish the binding. I'll count those too since they're out and visible for all to see, even though unfinished.

So 9 total. I guess that's more on display than I thought. Too many or not enough?

Can I count out loud?

1) over the fireplace -- my lone star.. in greens/reds/cream 2) on the family room wall - a US flag-like quilt 3) upstairs hall -- sampler -- my first quilt (I change it out with my Critters quilt.) 4) upstairs hall -- Jinny Beyer quilt -- same as her logo 5) guest room bed -- Winter Wishes (it'll be time to take it off and put something new when I get home) 6) my bed -- a utilitarian quilt -- star pattern 7) Ryan's bed -- blue / white / yellow log cabin (under that... on his bed... is his snake quilt) 8) kitchen hall wall -- periodically a seasonal quilt... like the Valentine Hearts or the oak leaves... 9) I occasionally hang the watercolor heart in the dining room. 10) quilt tops (awaiting quilting) hang on a quilt rack in my upstairs hall (which is quite large)

I have others displayed in my sewing room....

Bob (DH) did have the maize & blue bargello in his office... but when he moved from the University of Michigan to Michigan State -- we left the bargello with his secretary. I have a new green / black / white quilt on the drawing table for the wall of his new office.

I think you can see most of these in my webshots album.

Two for the master bed, three displayed on a quilt rack in the atrium, one on guest bed, one on back of couch, one waiting to go to a cousin, one BOM in progress, and two "spare" baby quilts in the closet awaiting babies. I've taken to making tote bags matching the quilts so I don't start a new quilt as soon as one is done (gives me a breather). I have dozens of relatives who have gotten quilts already, and have a working list of who is up next, plus a charity list.

A quick count - looks like about 22. Four are available to grab and use, six are on the quilt ladder and the rest are wall hangings. My girls say we live in a padded house.

I can think of 7 right now. I have about that many more finished. And MANY more tops.

In Florida I have one on my bed with 2 spares (for different seasons), 1 WH in bedroom, 2 WH in guest room, 2 WH in LR (one changes with the seasons), 1 large quilt on the wall in the DR, 1 WH over computer desk, quilt rack in guest room with 2 more quilts and a lap quilt in the LR!

In Kingston I have 1 on my bed, and 2 WH plus a pieced roman shade on the window, 2 in upstairs hallway, 1 on bed in guest room and 2 WH, 1 WH in bathroom plus pieced shower curtain, 2 WH in the downstairs hall (one changes regularly) 1 WH in LR and 2 table squares for DR table, 2 WH in powder room,1 WH in basement staircase and 2 WH in sewing room!

DH laughs and says that with all the extra insulation our heating and cooling bills are much lower! I also have several framed cross stitch pieces, including a clock! I think my visitors know what my favourite hobby is!

I have three folded and laid on the back of the futon, one on the living room wall and a table runner on the coffee table. I don't have one finished to fit our bed.

There is a wall hanging on the dining room wall, a large antique log cabin on the living room wall, a bed-size quilt on the bedroom wall, one on the bed (of course), a lap quilt on the back of the sofa-sleeper in the den and another folded up on the end, a lap quilt on the back of the love seat in the living room, another on the back of my "quilting chair", a table runner on the back of another rocker, and table runners on the coffee table, a small chest in the living room, the buffet in the dining room, and the dining room table. I think that adds up to 13. There is also a small seasonal quilt on our apartment door. Then there are 3 or 4 on the quilt rack in the living room and a set of blocks on the wall in the sewing room. If we had a guest room, there would, of course, be one on the bed and probably more on the walls.

I think that the number is up to 15 but darn it, they seem to be breeding like flies. I am not sure if I can stop them from showing up even thought I keep giving them away.

Definitely not enough! I have two on the walls in my sewing room (the only walls!) and one on the rocking chair there. The guest room has one on the bed, one on the chair and two on the walls. Our bedroom has three on the walls, one on the chair and one on the bed. The kitchen/dining area has one on the table and three on the walls (not much wall space in there, either). The living room has three on the walls -- two small, one large -- and used to have one on the rocking chair, but that had to stop when Bisou decided that quilts taste good. ;S It's a small house, or there'd probably be more "hanging around".

Oops! I forgot to say that I also have three quilt racks filled with the quilts I'm not displaying at the moment! They add color, too. :)

Not any----I haven't made any quilts big enough to go around the HOUSE....

Hmm, *in* the house, not in closets.....

Two on beds. Four on quilt racks or display equivalents. (Did you ever realize that a nice wooden towel bar on the wall makes a great small-space one-quilt quilt rack?)

Two on chair backs. One on couch back. One just sort of flitting around the couch, generally on my feet.

That's ten; when I get the living room finished/painted, I've got a Piglet medallion round robin wall hanging sized top (anybody here remember working on that one? :) that I need to finish and hang in the living room---I think it's going to be exactly the right size and colors for the spot on the wall I have in mind.

Howdy!

You have one on your bed? YOUR bed? Cool!

Btw, I have one of those green-shade lamps, too.

R/Sandy - w/ a few dozen quilts in the house, most bed-size, NONE in the closet ;-)

Between mine and the ones I inherited when Mom died, I'd guess over

100. They are EVERYWHERE, but mostly on shelves downstairs, waiting to be sorted. Have no idea what to do with all of them, except pass them along to my sons who won't know what to do with all of them! :>
